Exhaust placement assures speedway riding position. Not the fastest way around the track. Does look like a good way to heat a seat enclosure.

I wanted one too, but when a rental shop sold them off they wanted a lot for old ones that were beat on by tourists. It has been a while, but I think $1000-1500 for the cheapest of them and not willing to budge at all. There's literally 1 town that you can ride them in here too (Ocean City, MD). They are not legal anywhere else in MD and still they don't even sell cheap once used and stacked on top of each other for storage. There was an article here 10 years ago and it said the owner of a rental shop spent $40,000 on 6 coupes... so $6,667 each. A current site says $7,250 for a Piaggio 2T 50 and over $8,000 for a 150 version. I looked it up a bit ago and shops were asking $50-80 per hour to rent them. It takes me about 1 hour to do a full lap of OC on the scoot, taking off and cruising faster, so all of these folks that I see in coupes in the summer are prob spending $100-$160 to do a lap around town unless there's some half day or day rate that I didn't find just looking online. I have seen many small groups of them cruising together, so someone is cashing in. Also, you may die if you turn them sharp at all even in 50cc form. |
