so i had the ignition and battery put in my scooter it starts right up everytime except the first start of the day it takes a minute or two to start you have to try to start it a few a times then come back a few minutes later and it will start then the rrest of the day it starts fine one push of the button.two days ago i noticed my blinkers stoped working then the next day my headlights tail lights and blinkers all stopped working i still get a brake light though when i hit brakes. and the other problem is my scooter dying while im riding in traffic at 45 mph it will all the sudden lose power and start slowing down real fast til im at 0 somtimes it dies somtimes i give it some gas right before it dies and starts idling and i ride away like nuthings wrong it but if i ride it like normal not fast or wot or anything just with traffic 42-48mph and accelerating with traffic from a stop it will die. but if i accelerate slow and stay between 35-39 mph it wont die. it also blows white smoke out of the valve cover breather after like 20 minutes of riding. i think its needing a valve adjusment. as far as the electrical idk maybe the stator magneto? or the rectifier? any help would be apreciated i got like 40$ and im suppose to start a job on monday that i need to have transportation for

First do the valve adjustment and see what happens. The valves being off can cause the stalling issue. What is your spark plug? You should have an NGKC7HSA in there. May help cold starting. Should run about $3, call your auto parts stores. As far as the lighting, go over all your connections, most likely in the back. They can vibrate loose. A bad stator or regulator would only cause issues with headlight and taillight in my experience, while the brake light and blinkers are unefected..

ya i think i might break down and try the valve adjustment last time i tryed to do it i messed up my scooter. idk which plug but ima replace it tomorow one good thing about being in vegas is i can go to scrappy dogs in person there 2 50 there. my mechanic said to clean the carb and jets real good before the valve adjustment and replace the spark plug maybe coil. and he said for the lights it should be the rectifier and turning switch cuz all i have is brake lights. thanks for the advice. any other theories?

No other theories. Just use the proper feeler guages on the valve adjustment, and leeve the guage in while you tighten it to avoid getting the clearance too tight, and double check that it's not loosened up. Valve adjustments are a regular maintenance thing and veery easy if you don't rush it. And ide agree, change the rectifier/regulator first. Are the bulbs blown out or just not working?

Valve adjustment guide, print it and follow exactly, very important to have the flywheel and cam set properly before the adjustment. .07 inches or .003mm (guage can be either) both the same. 49ccscoot.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=4ttech&action=display&thread=428The light bulbs can blow from an over charge from the stator, either the stator is bad or regulator causing this, or the lights may not be getting enough charge, again stator or regulator. It's nice you have quick access to scrappy and his basic supplies. Must be nice. Most of us have to wait on parts to try. again, regulator, CDI, stator, in that order to get to the bottom of the electrical issue, unless it's just loose connections. Those wires are usually just under the back fender, and get a lot of vibration by the wheel, so it's the first thing I look at (also looking costs nothing). I also electrical tape the connections so they can't slip out, and zip tie wires to the frame to prevent extra movement of the wires.

autozone doesnt have the right size feeler gauges i think the ones i got start at 0.0015 in and 0.038 metric and ends at 0.025 in and 0.635 metric is that right?

okay so i have the valve cover off the cooling fan shroud off and the timing mark lined up and my cam is set with the big hole in middle one on bottom one on top the top valve fits the .003 in just how it looks in the video and tutorial but the bottom one is so tight i cant even get a .002 in it. could that be the cause of my problem? i have it all ready for the morning when my friends bringin me a 9mm wrench to finish it up.

That sounds liek the right set of gauges. The valve being tight is likely at least part of your issue.

Could be the stalling problem. If it's too tight, as the engine heats and things expand, the valve can get even tighter, causing it to stall out when it's hot, and not start til cool again. If you have a problem with the stator (or regulator, or CDI), it can also cause stalling from intermitent spark. Don,t go too far on your test runs just yet. ( well arn't I just little miss sunshine today )

lol ya ive spent 16 $ past 4-6 days ago in gas for my friends truck to come pick me and my scoot up and take us home. the regulater i have is ac fired i think cuz its the little grey one not black with wires coming out of it mine has no wires just a connecter ya when my scooter stalls out and dies it takes a 5 minutes to cool down to start again and somtimes just wont start til i here it draining my battery. yesterday before taking nmy valve cover off and what not i put a exhaust gasket in cuz i have a real bad exhaust leak and just that made big diference in performance and when i rode it for 5 mins when it stalled i bogged all the way down to like 3mph then started idling and i rode away without it dying. now im gunna go get the 9mm wrench and some needle nose pliers and adjust the valve to .003. thanks for all the advice its helped alot and really saved me some $$

okay valves adjusted to proper settings and stalling problem fixed :nana: took it on a 25 mile ride and it ran great idled great fast lots of torque. when i first tryed to start my scoot after i put everything back to gether it wouldnt start like after 5 times tryin i messed with the ignition coil pushed in on it and turned it clockwise 360 degrees and it started right up so tomrow ima try to get a ignition coil the orange one a regulater rectifier and a spark plug hopefully my lights and blinkers will be fixed after that is there a way to test the regulater cdi stator with a volt meter or somthin to see which is bad?>
