I have a few more loose ends to tie up, but all the major stuff is done. Should be scooting about the neighborhood to do a few test runs this weekend (illegally with no tag - get that next week). I got real busy and only took a couple quick cell phone shots - worked mostly at night and my garage is dark. I'll do a photo shoot for my build thread after I get it off the stand. Here is a before after from my phone in a dark garage. It was a wreck. The yellow before pic looks way too good. Recovered the seat, paint, all new CVT front rear and belt. New brakes front and rear including rotor, cable and brake line, new caliper and master cylinder. Rebuilt carb, acid etched rusted tank with muratic acid - it came out great. New fuel lines, removed oil injection tank and oil pump - I am a pre-mixer now. Ha! Took it down to the frame and wiring harness and de-rusted the frame by abrasion and naval jel. All new fastners and clips. Epoxed allot of cracks and tabs. Many hours into this and out about $300. Scoot was free from a relative. Tires look good. Greased the axels and bearings and painted the wheels when I had them off. Later - I need a shower. Before: After - in "bitchin black":

Sounds like you've done it right. Should be one damn nice $300 scoot!

Bigjeff, the Triton looks great! I hope mine will look as good. I don't plan on going through the whole restore thing with it, since it will be a daily rider, but just enough to get it reliable.

Got it purring like a kitten lapping warm milk...now. But not without a repeated effort. I must of had some rust contaminated fuel in the float bowl and fuel line from the pre acid washed tank cause my jets fouled again. The carbs on these bike are fussy...even the smallest amount of dirt or rust even after going through a good quality filter will cause the carb to act up and not hold an idle or throttle setting. The good thing is - they are simple and straight forward to clean, learn and set. Running very well. All the lights working - found a way to mod that tail light socket to keep the bulb still...at least for now. If it does not work I will get one of the sockets I pasted below for $2.95 and epoxy it on place after cutting out the old one. These holders work. I hope it runs this well after reaching full temp after a 10-15 min WOT.

Brandon - I got this one for free....the $300 was for new parts and consumables to fix it up. Getting it running and safe was the first order of the day...and being that it will be may teenage son using it primarily, I will leave it stock. Damn if I didn't get the 2 wheel bug doing this project tho....been dreaming of bobbers and retro scoots don't cha know. Ha!

Test drives today have been a blast. Only thing I had to mess with was the idle adjustment. Tuned it up a bit so it would not stall out at long stops. With stock everything it starts off average and tops out at 45 mph with my 250 lb 6'4" frame which is way better than I thought it would do. :scoot2: Tops out on smiles too. My wife rode it and she said: "we need to get another one so we can do it together - that is so much fun." haha She is hooked. I'll take some better picks after my son gets off of it for a few minutes. :scoot:

Good going. Motorcycles, scooters, mopeds are addictive machines. My little 5 year old daughter has already declared that when she gets of age she wants me to buy her a green motorcycle. I smiled because that usually means Kawasaki! She can't even pronounce that name yet, and she already wants one!

So you need scoots for you and your wife now, and you might as well get 2 more for the other sons while you're at it. Your shop is about to get crowded. lol
