Not familiar with the Piggies, but you could try spraying some brake parts cleaner around in there through the fill/drain the best you can if you really don't want to pull it apart. If it's not WAY better than what you saw in the pics earlier in the thread, I would only consider disassembly, cleaning and checking bearings.

Thanks Brent. I think I'll try that first. Then hit it with some air to dry it and see where it is.

I got into it today and after some research discovered that there had been a washer missing between the variator halves. This washer spaced the starter gear away from the bend just enough that there was no danger of it hitting and causing the bell ringing sound. I took it for a nice ride and I think the spacer helped the take off a little. I then decided it was time to put the guards back on. This scoot is in such good shape I'd like to keep it that way. Here is a picture:

Glad to see it working out for you! I would not mind having one of those myself.

Will you be replacing that damaged plastic?

Will you be replacing that damaged plastic? I will eventually, it's $250 from AF1 in the red. I have seen the parts I need for $300 on Fleabay. I don't want my other scoots with missing parts to be jealous.

I have been riding this around for the past week, it's a great around town bike that can go anywhere except highways. Yesterday I went to start it and the starter motor just zinged, tried again and the bendix caught. I guess I was right about the bendix not being in great shape. I have one on order to replace it. A little preventative maintance goes a long way to keep from getting stranded.

Thank you, its in great condition considering it was stolen and left abandoned on a neighbors yard. The plastics will be a quick fix. I'm shocked to see them going for $2000-$2500 on CL here. I still prefer my Scarabeo 150 with its large tires, 4 valves, dual disk brakes and water cooled Rotax engine. But for zipping around town this is great.

The new bendix came in and I went to install it and found no splines on the valuator outer pulley. This could be part of the problem. I have a replacement on order as well as all of the replacement plastics. It runs okay but I pushed it to the back of the garage until the parts come in. The Beo is happy its my daily rider now.

I got the variator pulley and put it on and it started and runs much better. I also ordered the glove box and flap and all of the bits needed to make it look good. AF1 missed on the spring for the catch so I had to wait.
The spring came in yesterday and I went out all set to put it together and discovered the lever for the catch was bent. Of course it's aluminum and already stressed so it just fell apart. Have a new one on order as well as a belt and other bits. Maybe next week it will be whole again. I'm not holding my breath.

I was off this week and it was scooter time as well as rearranging the furniture in the house. I finally had all of the parts to get this back to original as well as putting new tires on it. The plastics all went on as planned and look good except the color match on the glove box flap is not great. I got the new belt on, the old one was a little worn but was also 16 years old. I have been having trouble with the clutch when I tightened the nut it locks the wheel up. I got a set of washers that solved that problem. Of course it rained all week and I didn't get out to ride until yesterday and it was a little cold for NC. The new belt helped it accelerate better and the new City Grip tires feel much better. I took it easy to wear the tires in but will take it out today and give it a long ride and get pictures.
