how would i know if the reeds are seated properly and not dumping fuel in and flooding the engine before it will start. i say this becasue i checked the gas tank and it is half full and i only rode 13 miles before it died on me and i filled it up right before then

When you take out the reed cage, you'll be able to tell whether or not they are sealing. If they are "bent" and not resting on the stuffer, then they aren't sealing.. You may want to look at your petcock,etc to make sure it's not leaking or have a hole in the tank itself.(it is plastic) .....13 miles and a 1/2 tank. :stumped:

well when we took off the reed cage to get a look at the jets in the carb there was a lot of gas down where the reed cage sits in the intake.

could the 32:1 mixture be to much oil in the mixture to not let the gas ignite and start the engine?

and when i start it and put my hand over the inlet spighet of the carb the gas comes shooting out onto my hand i dont think this is suppossed to happen?

Have you changed the plug yet? Maybe you are over rich and it's fouled? Sounds as though the A/F screw could be out of whack as well. Just suggestions.

How do i knOw when the a/f screw is all the way closed. And whats a good starting point to for the a/f screw to try and start it? Im going to get a new plug but no auto stores around here carry it

Starting point is one full turn. Turning it "in" makes it more rich, opening it up and turning it out makes it more lean. Sounds like you are lean are 2 full turns out.
From those that know more then I do;
Locate the two adjustment screws on the left side. The throttle stop screw is the rear screw. The fuel/air screw is toward the front of the carburetor and slightly below the throttle stop screw. Gently screw in the fuel/air screw until it “bottoms” lightly and then back it out one full turn. DO NOT screw it in tight because you could damage the seal at the tip.
More on installation;
BASIC CARBURETOR ADJUSTMENTS
Except for re-installing the body panels you removed, the carburetor replacement is complete. However, before replacing the plastic pieces you should start the engine and make the important initial adjustments.
Before starting the engine, twist the throttle from closed to wide open and note how far it rotates. With the throttle closed, mark both the throttle grip and the handle bar cover (with a marking pen or narrow strip of colored vinyl tape). Then rotate the throttle to full open and mark the throttle grip in line with the stationary mark on the handle bar cover. Now, divide the rotation in half, then in half again, and finally in half once again, and mark the throttle grip each time, so when you’re done you have marks at half throttle, one-quarter throttle, and one-eighth throttle. We are concerned with the one-eighth throttle setting.
Start the engine. Press the starter for about five seconds several times, to allow the carburetor float bowl to fill with fuel, until the engine starts. Adjust the throttle stop screw (the rear screw) for an idle of around 1900 RPM, and let the engine to warm up for 10 minutes or so. Re-adjust the idle if necessary.
Once the engine is warm, run it at one-eighth throttle for about two minutes then shut off the engine with the Kill Switch on the right handle bar while holding the throttle at the one-eighth position. Remember to turn off the ignition as well. Remove the spark plug and examine the porcelain insulator in the center of the plug.
The goal is to adjust the fuel/air screw to obtain a cardboard brown colored insulator. White or gray means the fuel/air adjustment is lean. Black, or black and wet, means the fuel/air adjustment is rich.
If the insulator color indicates the setting is too rich, turn the air/fuel screw OUT one-eighth to one-quarter turn, gently wipe the plug, re-install it and conduct the test again. If the insulator color indicates the setting is too lean, turn the air/fuel screw IN one-eighth to one-quarter turn and test again.
From the information available, the “correct” adjustment of the fuel/air screw is between one to one-and-a-half turns out from the seated position. Your “correct” setting should also be within that range. Remember that it is better to adjust the carburetor a little rich than too lean. Once the spark plug insulator color looks acceptable, replace the plug and re-connect the spark plug lead one last time. Re-install the body panels and rear rack if you removed them (remember to re-connect the air filter hose from the intake box on the inside of the left body panel if you removed it). Re-install the under-seat storage box and saddle. You’ve completed the Arreche carburetor installation, and it didn’t take much more time than it took to read these instructions carefully. Performance should now be even more impressive.

So should i turn it all the way in and then 2 turns out or All the way out and then 2 turns in? Would a fouled plug not let it start? No auto stores near me carry the right size spark plug i have to order it online

All the way seated and turn out...... YEs...... Any napa sells the plugs NGK BR8SHA. Any other parts house should carry it if they sell ngk plugs

Still no success guys its been a month an no ridding ugh. I have checked everything and still no start, reeds,gas, spark, kill switch. I have no idea it almOst seems like a timing thing that its nOt starting!!!!!! Wont start with starter fluid either,changed sPark plug to new one and still no success. WHAT CAN I DO TO GET THIS THING STARTED!!!!
