Welding cast parts can be iffy due to the unknown metals used in them..Some weld great others refuse to weld, kind of a crap shoot, but worth a try... I've heard, but unless I can find another af16 I'll keep trying what ever I can to revive this one lol.

So a little update, I tore the scooter back down to the frame and am building it again, but differently this time lol. Dont worry, I reinstalled the AF16 back into the SR and that thing is one quick whipper snapper.

So the first FAIL of the new build... I've got a Dio Zx disc brake front end coming in and I thought I'd try out this triple tree / steering stem I found. Yes, it's from China but i thought I'd give it a try. Well, it wont work and it wont work for any one. Everything looked good but long story short, the threads are cut slightly too small. The upper race nut came literally be pulled down or up with a little extra force which mean it definitely cant be tightened by any means. So I'll be looking for a different set up to install my new front end with. Back to the drawing board.

Looking forward to your build so I can use your ideas. Regarding the oil pump delete, I'll do the same because I can't find some freakin throttle cables for my AF24 scoot. They are made only for Japan and spending 50 dollars on a cable is not my cup of tea. Besides tossing the oil tank, removing the oil pump + lines and plugging the oil pump bore + intake manifold oil feed port is there anything else I should pay attention to? (ofc, besides premixing oil & gas also)

That's a neat idea! How about the fuel pump? Does the AF16 Spree uses one? Other than what i've mentioned, anything else needed to remove the oil pump?

I'm fairly certain from memory the spree steerer tube threads are different in diameter than a dio which could be the reason the headset didnt thread on right.
It's been a while though.

I wish that was the case, but I tried my spree, jog, minarelli, ruckus, metropolitan, and all other nits I had. All of them were the same size and all fit each other perfectly, but the triple tree I bought is 0.4mm smaller and I'm pretty certain they dont make half mm size down nuts lol
