It looked like the boss wasn’t machined all the way through. It should be one diameter all the way through without that step. If you have another the same length you could use that.

I don't have a boss that's within 10-15mm of the length of that one either. I'm assuming these things are hardened and I'm not going to be able to sand the inside diameter to open it up at all?

Also, my measurements are different than Brent's in that doc you linked Zino.

Scootertuning will have to send you a replacement. I believe brents are from the standard overrange .
The extra one I have wont work for you . My malossi mhr racing variator Part number 010511316I It is oversized . I received it by mistake on one of my orders. Drive boss OD 20 mm length is 37 mm variator drive face 99.5 mm . I looked at my catalog it looks like they have multiple part numbers for the variator set ups .

If anyone else out there has one that would work, let me know. I’ll pay for it and shipping (any carrier except USPS haha).Things are getting hard to come by right now and haven’t heard back from ST yet (just messaged them a couple hours ago).

Getting the right inner and outer diameter would be key you can shim for length. O.D. 22 mm 13 mm I.D. None of my other drive bosses have that outside diameter . Of Course Malossi has to have multiple sizes .More Profit that way !
Scootertuning will come through for you . Scooter Addicts like us are hard to come by.

Yeah, I’m sure they will. They have the correct replacement in stock on their site too, so I should be able to get it. Scooter Tuning has truly always been amazing for me.
Tired of constantly waiting for part after part in the mail for this thing though. I’ve bought an amazing amount of parts for this thing to try and stay ahead of the curve, but am still somehow way behind.
Thankfully, I’ve been able to keep busy on it though and haven’t had any total stoppages in progress due to ordering. More stoppages because of life and laziness lol.

While you wait if that is the last thing to go. Swap a different variator on to rip this thing down the road . Wrenching is fun but getting on the road is Awesome . I have a pile of parts to go on 2 of my scoots . After being cooped up I needed to get out . I have run a couple tanks of gas through 2 of the 3 scoots in the last week .

Just use the Polini variator for now to get that thing up and running.

I'd love to use the Polini parts, but it's already on its way back to Scooter Tuning for the exchange I did to get the Malossi lol.
Zino, I hear ya. I'm about to spruce up the Jog tonight and get it ready for a ride tomorrow. My girlfriend usually rides it and the weather is just starting to turn, so I gotta get it ready anyway.

As far as a starting point for my CVT tune, I was going to start with a yellow (medium) Malossi torque spring, medium clutch springs screwed out ¾ (Polini 3G clutch), and something like 5gr rollers in the variator. Does that sounds like a good starting point in a Malossi over range?

I,ve never built a full engine but I have been around the forum for a while now, myths and outside chances always haunt a self taught builder so here,s my .you probably did a good job fitting the crank,if it turns by hand no reason to not start it up,when you build the variator on you could rig a gauge to check for run out,I have no idea of the tolerances but think it would be obvious if the crank was bent. Sounds like a good start with your set up The yellow contra will make your variator weights act lighter for shifting you will rev higher You might be going up one higher on clutch spring or that spring at full tension . I run the medium polini springs on a street pipe with a standard clutch
