Should be starting her up tomorrow finally. I have a 19mm carb on the Athena 70cc aluminum with a stock air box with snorkel removed.
Does a 96 main jet, 38 pilot and 3/5 needle sound like a good place to start?

First start! It feels super strong and sounds solid. I was super nervous it was gonna all be sh!t haha. You can probably tell from the look on my face I'm happy.
My only concern is the idle... it was idling nice and smooth and then all of the sudden increased by probably 300rpm and stayed steady. Did that twice between me adjusting the air and fuel screw. Is this normal for any reason on a new build or do I likely have an intermittent air leak?

Okay should be good now. Thanks Zino. What do you think about my idle issue?

Sounds powerful . Wants too rip. Idle may be just the new build taking hold . You have a ton new parts that you are running in for the first time .

I did a leak test and it was good, but since then I dude have to move the intake a little and didn’t test afterward. I moved it once before and tested it and it passed just fine though. No gasket necessary with the Polini 360 I was told. The rubber boot serves as its own gasket. Makes sense because I had a ton of leaks when I used one.

Im helping driftkid with his zuma build Carb tuning is what he is dialing in Could you run a compression test on your build . He has the Athena race kit crank pwk carb and plenty of power hit 65 But he thinks his compression is only 120 psi. Here is his thread 49ccscoot.proboards.com/thread/26513/2003-yamaha-zuma-yw50r

I’ve been following his thread fairly closely. He’s running a 30mm carb, isn’t he? I was wondering if that’s why he’s having such a hard time dialing it in. Carb is just too large for the kit?
Yeah, I’ll do a compression test tomorrow or the next day and we’ll see what I come up with.

So I'm having issues and could use some feedback. reference: 19mm carb, 96 MJ, 38 PJ, 3/5 needle. First, my kickstart will not return. It has all new parts and seems to be functioning fine when not installed. I can hold the gear in place and spin it and it feels smooth and returns as it should, but not when it's installed and I kick it. It just stays down. Pressure test and I got 130 psi. Next, my idle is all over the place and it took a ton of kicking to get it started for the first time today, I previously pressure tested it and it did well. The only thing I've done since then is move the intake a little, which would make sense as to where a leak may be coming from. I'll start checking for leaks tomorrow, but here's a video and some pics, just in case I'mm missing something obvious. There is fuel coming up the blue vacuum tube a bit, which you can see in the video. Is this normal? Next, the plug. After about 20 minutes of run time and two trips around the block, this is what the plug looks like. Also, there is oil around the base of it and the temp probe/sensor. Just not tight enough?

In case it gives any clues as to where the leak may be coming from, the very first time I started it, it ran pretty well and the idle has become progressively worse since then.
