how old is the gas thats in it? could it have water in it? The very next thing i would do is put a (preferably green) wire on one of the valve cover bolts and run it to the frame somewhere. make sure you scrape the paint off where you attach it to. your engine might not be grounded and have weak spark while the plug is in the head. make sure all green wires everywhere have dont have paint under them. Yes I always earth the cylinder head with a fat copper wire. And run a earth between switches on each side of the handlebars and back to the battery. I had a starting problem and I tried setting the valve with a feeler gauge and it never started so I just increase the gap on the exhaust valve a bit at a time till it started It was noisey for a while but its settled down. I try to run it on 98 octane most of the time cause it runs cooler and hopefully wont get valve stretching hot or is it valve seat recession :lol2:
