Really nice work! You’ve turned that into a great looking bike.

Very very nice. What type of foam and adhesive did he use on the seat?

Very very nice. What type of foam and adhesive did he use on the seat? Thanks! I'm pretty pleased with how it's come out! I don't know the specifics of the foam other than it's proper upholstery grade and that the grey layer is 3mm to smooth out the surface and add a little more cushion. Glue wise I've seen pots of Ados in his shop, so that may be whats in the spraygun.
Swapped out from 25pilot, 77.5main to 35pilot, 80 main. Think I've gone too big in both jets lol. Got rid of the lean hang but the throttle response leaves a bit to be desired, so will try 32.5 next and it's not revving out as nicely with the 80 and I've lost 5-10k top speed, so will go back to the 77.5 or even try a 75.

Beautiful work! I've got great memories of rotary valve engines. After a well earned rest, can't wait to see your next project!

Found a few people recommending cutting the disc to close about 65° after TDC and start opening between 130-145° before TDC for a good balance between high RPM screamer and something that's still able to idle with usable mid range torque. Might try polishing and cutting the original disc and give it a try before committing to chopping up a brand new NOS item still in the 1970's packaging!

Both phenolic and steel cut easily with a Dremel cutoff wheel. Leave a small radius at the corners and as you said, polish.

For sure, the cutting is the easy part, it's figuring out exactly where to cut it I'm worried about lol

Got sent a good high res pic of a rare factory Suzuki R-T "hop up kit" intake disc, so I printed to scale, cut it out and laid it on top of my new disc to mark out the cut. That's marked out with the R-T timing, fairly close already. Turns out NZ A50's got the disc that the rest of the world seems to have only got in the "fast version" AC50, my old disc is identical timing to the new one. Also think I've found exactly where the noise was coming from, the old disc is sloppy on the spline of the drive whereas the new one is a nice tight fit. Plenty of room to improve the porting, there's some really hard edges in there. Have just done a deal on another factory engine, picking it up next week with the plan to port it, replace all the bearings and the clutch etc and possibly adapt a Piaggio or Peugeot 70cc kit on it.

And you said this build was complete! It never ceases to amaze me how different the same way bikes are in different markets. You think manufacturers would make it easier for themselves.

Still absolutely gutless with the cut disc and while a lot of the noise is gone whats left sounds a lot like a bad bearing! Pretty sure the cheap Taiwanese cast 60 kit is the main issue power wise, need to lower the exhaust port close to 5mm, space the cylinder 5mm and deck more off the top to suit, that should get the intakes opening fully. But instead I'm going another way entirely Have scored a custom sleeved cylinder and head set up that takes it out to 65cc and is a proven performer and a bigger carb etc to match, just waiting on them to arrive then I can crack into porting and rebuilding this engine!

So many times you hear the port timings are way off, on these cheap kits. Good job you can fix it. 😁

So many times you hear the port timings are way off, on these cheap kits. Good job you can fix it. 😁 I set it up with the top of the piston lined up with the bottom of the exhaust port at BDC, the intakes were maybe half open at that point. Ramped the piston to try and open them up but only got maybe 75% open if I'm honest and the base gaskets squashing will have made that worse.

Still waiting for the top end etc, but the stash of SGP is growing in preparation of it's arrival!
