Hi guys. Today i tried my 70cc chinarelli scoots mikuni carb from auto to manual choke as shown on the pic above. I cut off the cable length shorter and diy soldered a cable end tip. However, no matter what i do i couldn’t seem to get things right as my scoot won’t idle but it idles fine if i put back the auto enricher. The manual conversion doesn’t have that needle tip that the autochoke has and is just a flat barrel. Won’t even iidle if i stretch the pull lever up. Anyone had issues like this before? My mikuni carb is same as those found on eton 50ccs with manual chokes. Thanks for any help

Are you sure the barrel goes all the way down to the bottom? Shouldn't really need the needle at the end. You may have cut the inner wire to short.

Do you have pictures of both halves? Does the manual choke have a rubber seal? I can't see , if there is a spring on the end to keep it closed and seated? Is the needle what actually seals or closes off the fuel flow from the jet on a Mikuni?

My etons had a mikuni carb . With manual choke and looked just like yours with no needle. You may have cut the wire too short so it wont seal .

That photo sure looks like a Mikuni style choke (enricher). If you had a auto-choke and it had the needle, I question if your dealing with a Mikuni carb. Need photo of carb, several from various angles. Does the auto choke look like this?

Yah my autochoke does look like that with the needle tip sealing the small hole. The barrel that came with the manual choke has like a rubber/silicon type on the bottom lart which i think should seal that small hole. But then again it’s not letting me idle and it dies when i pull the lever open

What’s sealing up the large hole with the manual choke? I see orings sealing the large hole that the electric choke fits in.

Yup an o-ring seals it as well like the autochoke does.

Yup the exact same conversion i bought. I may have cut the cable too short. It should just be enough length right when that small barrel is pulled up by the lever showing that small hole where the extra fuel comes in? When installing the cable do you have to adjust the perfect tension first before twisting or tidying up the extra length?

In your picture you have it adjusted as long as possible. Start screwing the adjuster out and the plunger for the choke will pull further back, closer to the cap. I set mine up initially with the adjuster as far out as possible, making the sheathing as long as possible , this gives you a longer cable to start with.

I have this other type of choke lever aside from the pull up one. Is this any better? Only thing with this is it doesn’t pull up as high as the pull up lever. Will try doing as what you suggested. Thanks

You can remove some sheathing material from the end of the one you are using so more cabling sticks out. You Just won't have a metal end on the searching anymore. I've done it myself when I needed to fix a cable that the end broke off of.
