Was at a buddy’s house and he just got his uncle’s BSA Bantam the was last ridden 35 years ago after being restored. My friend ride it right after his uncle had finished restoring it, and then it was garaged. Last year the uncle passed, and he willed the bike to my friend who now has it sitting in his living room. He said, “Eh, no one is interested in riding a 50cc, 2-stroke. It’s too anemic.” I said F-that! I’ll take that out anytime you’ll let me (need to give him more shots).

Be a shame not to ride it. Even just going to the local shops. I'm sure people would be interested to see it about.

As far a I recall Bantams were firstly 125 then 150 both 3speeds then 175 4 speed. I never heard of a 50cc but who knows. They were a copy of a German one in the repatriation ( if that's right word) deals after WW2. Either MZ or DKW from memory. I had about 16 of the sods at one time which I swapped for a Panther model 120 650cc. Nice looking bike your mate has there.

that's a really nice bantam. ive only seen one of those in real life, and nowhere near as nice. I have had the pleasure of wrenching and riding on the harley counterpart. im actually trying to get basketcase 1950ish 165 Harley hummer from a friends cousin who just inherited it. theyre grandpa bought it brand new. its supposed to be all there, just in boxes. and milly is correct on how these came about. although we call it "the spoils of war" here in America. lol germany had a similar bike that were given to hitler youths to ride around their neighborhoods to entice other children to join. after the war was won, Harley and bsa both took home examples of these motorcycles and reverse engineered them and in turn built their own versions. the Harley Davidson hummer, and the BSA bantam. hey jay, when you convince your buddy to let you borrow the bantam. ill borrow the hummer I helped restore, we can go for a cruise on these museum pieces. heres a couple pics of the one I got running and helped restore. theyre a little slow but they totally make up for it in the cool factor!

I’m a scooter rider. Fast is relative. But a cool bike is absolute!

I could have believed Jawa or others from the continent, too.
Ahh....to have a Fichtel & Sachs 98cc two stroke on some classic small motorcycle frame.....
That'd be livin' the dream.
I agree with the notion that not riding that bike would be a shame and a pity.
