I must have hit the red screen thingy on my screen by mistake on the first one . I was gonna come back out in an hour - but didn't make it .
just with my eye I could see a tiny red/orange dot above and slightly to the right of the moon. looked like one of these satellites I see all the time.
was that Mars you think ?

I do believe Mars has been chugging around the sky with the Moon the last few days.

Mars is just below center right. As it stands now, mmm maybe 45 degrees from the moon? Dunno, never calibrated my arms. The moon is off to the left dancing with some wind-beaten clouds :-) Beauty night, winter is right around the corner.

Haven't posted here in a while. Camera is fixed but I've been too busy with other things. Thought this was neat. Beautiful evening it is tonight. I call it 9-Finger Alien

Oh I like this thread,I am slowly trying to learn the constellations this is day4 I have got orion off to tee but I need to defrag my brain to fit the big dipper in,and some clear nights of course. Geoff I can usually find Cassiopeia (large W) and the pleiades but Orion is a constant companion.

There's purportedly an annular eclipse in this pic, but damned if I could pull it outta the iPhone even with heavy modification. Don't have my 30X zoom with me, as I am in Boston area this week for work. I walked out into the hotel parking lot in my PJs at 6 AM to see it. No dice. Though I am still compelled to post, B for effort! Anyone else in the Northeast happen to see it?

Despite no big celestial events aside from a waxing moon, this is the best shot at full 30x optical zoom I was able to pull off in between all the clouds tonight.

Nothing special, just another moon pic. Haven't used the camera for a while, and we finally got some relief from this miserable hazy hot humid weather. Pretty clear night 2nite.
