Hey Reph, I like your post. I worked through the entire pan-d. Missed four hours when Pennsylvania initially shut down. I work on garage doors, mostly commercial. My helper and I are paired up almost all the time. We also got quite sick in December ‘19. We swore we must have had it. We work in a two hour radius of York PA. Hospitals, waste water treatment, food factories, anywhere with a garage door. The list is quite large. For two months in the beginning we lived in fear. Alcoholing hands after every stop etc. Fast forward to thanksgiving 2021 and I finally contracted IT. I had a night where my lungs output a massive amount of phlegm, I had a day or two prior to that where my upper teeth and whole top of head just plain hurt. Smell went away on day 5? Still has not returned. I have a persistent cough that on day 21ish hangs around but is getting less every day. When I’m busy I forget to cough. It’s kinda like that. I’ll stand with the conspiracy theorists in the main made virus camp. Not sure what naturally occurring thing would steal your sense of smell on a seemingly permanent basis. Of course I’m not sure how a man made thing could do so either so it’s just speculation on a self reassuring basis. For those that get it, cough plenty, keep your lungs as clear as you can and rest. Other than the phlegm (and weird taste/smell issues) it seems beatable however it does affect everyone differently. If you read this far, thanks. At the beginning of 2020 when this virus was a mystery, i studied up on the effects of the virus. I ended up delving back into the Hawaiian Plant Medicines that i learned about at the University of Hawaii from a medicinal plant kahuna from Kauai. Early in 2020 i bought bottles of Kirkland Vodka and collected plant to make tinctures. I made several tinctures prior to the development of the shot. Turmeric: anti inflammatory properties. Plantain: not the banana but a short leafy plant called plantago major. Hawaiian name is Laukahi. Kahuna called it "the 911" plant. Used for cuts and stings. It has antiviral and antibacterial properties. Black nightshade: related to the deadly nightshade and belladonna. Looks like huckleberries. Hawaiian name is Popolo. Kahuna used it for any lung or respiratory ailments. Can use the whole plant except for unripe green berries (poisonous). Bidens pilosa: beggars tick or Spanish Nettle. It has those long skinny seeds that stick to your socks and clothes. We mainly use it for diabetes, high blood pressure, or angina (chest pains). Hawaiian name is Kinehi. Also good for colds and flu. I also always have a Hawaiian chili pepper plant at home. Hawaiian name Nioi. Kahuna added it to pretty much all medicines for circulation. We were also tau.ght that it can be used on cuts to stop the bleeding. Many of these plants look like weeds to the untrained eye. So while most people were worried, i collected herbs and made jars of tinctures, in case i came down with the virus, at least i would have some plant medicine available at home.

Today halfway through a 635mile trip to collect a scooter I got a message from my boss to say she had just tested positive. I was in her company for about an hour Tuesday afternoon dropping off bike's from the school we lend out to the kids who don't have one for cycle training then went in her for coffee and was in close contact looking at Google earth pointing out an old mineshaft we found 20 odd years ago that is probably Roman being near a Roman hill fort and the construction of it as she going to investigate it when she rides her stallion up there plus went with her to the stable to. I think being in a car to sleep and eat for nearly 23hrs except to load scooter and stop for a pee in the hedge rows I will sleep well tonight. Done my test and clear of covid thankfully. Tiz 00.43 time for bed.

pertaining to Hawaii, i theorize that growing up here, we were exposed to a variety of coronaviruses. when i researched the effects of the cov19 i also did research on the different kinds of coronaviruses and to delve into the facts of it being bat related.
animals that we have here on Oahu:
Bulbul (birds). we have Red-vented Bulbul and Red-whiskered Bulbul here wild. there is Bulbul coronavirus HKU11 that is genus: deltacoronavirus. these birds are in the wild here.
Pigs. we have pig farms as well as wild pigs here. there is Porcine coronavirus HKU15, porcine deltacoronavirus, porcine respiratory coronavirus. i read the porcine coronaviruses can belong to Alphacoronavirus, Betacoronavirus, and Deltacoronavirus. there is also a porcine coronavirus that gives you diarrhea.
Fowl. we have wild chickens (red jungle fowl) here. Group 3 coronaviruses like Infectious Bronchitis Virus from gallus gallus (red jungle fowl). we also have pheasants here that can carry Phasianis colchicus. in china, coronavirus was detected in Peafowl. we have wild Peafowl here. we also have wild pigeons and ducks here and they can be carries of avian coronaviruses. --this info is from a scientific paper from 2005.
cows. we have ranches here. there is Bovine Respiratory Coronavirus. BCoV is shed in feces as well. a science article from March 2021 says that bovine coronavirus has been detected in dogs and humans.
mongoose. there is a Civet coronavirus. mongoose are civets.
Thrush. very vocal bird in the wild. we have Surinam Thrushes here. Thrush birds can carry coronaviruses.
these are my reasons for theorizing that for those of us that grew up and live here in Hawaii, our case count numbers and deaths are not as high as other places, because of our exposure to other coronaviruses in our environment.
--one of the funny things. i talked to my son right before i got my first shot. he told me he was out of school for a while because he popped hot on a Cov test at school. he also told me that he was fully vaccinated. That made me even more skeptical about the Vaccine. too late now, already inoculated with the "rage virus" from 28 Weeks Later or the zombie-virus from I Am Legend...LOL. ...and we all thought the Zombie Apocalypse stuff was silly.
about 12 years ago, i would hang out with a woman at the beach. one day she told me, "i believe there will be an event one day in which they are going to require a mandatory vaccine shot". she said it would only be one part of the equation and that she felt that there would be another component. that component could be in the air, water, or food. come this day, what she was talking about is known as a binary weapon. 2 components separately are safe, once mixed, it activates.
pretty interesting though that there is a Level 4 Virus Lab within walking distance from that wet market. so it may be such that it came from Wuhan, but did it originate in Wuhan or at Phort Detrick another Level 4 lab. the events and the timeline of things there are interesting, it even shut down at one point in recent history.

I don't give a lot of credence to the conspiracy theories, they don't matter much after the fact. We have many similar wildlife types here in Kansass as well as multiple virus research labs. I figure the CDC etc know a LOT more than the internet theorists and some unscrupulous people trying to make a fast buck peddling worm medicine and bleach as cures for our latest ailment. It does not hurt me a bit to wear a mask and get vaccinated as well as other precautions like hand washing etc. The main problem with catching the covid is becoming a reservoir of infection that the virus may mutate in, as well as passing it to others. Taking precautions is just part of my civic duty. I get the flu shot every year and I have already been vaccinated against many other diseases. I also can tell people what getting some of the diseases many are vaccinated against nowadays was like. I still carry tremendous harm to this very day from the measles, scars from chickenpox and the mumps. Life was not good before vaccines. I had school classmates that had polio and bore those problems. I got the polio vaccine as soon as it was available. I have also received the shingles vaccine, too late for some rather painful episodes.
Take advantage of the vaccines available now. The world is getting smaller due to rapid transportation and more crowded. We will be seeing many more pandemics before one of them wipes most of us out, thinning the herd so to speak. That is if a super-volcano like yellowstone (or others) or some space rock does not do a bang up job of thinning the population for us. There are some rather scary diseases out there now that could also get loose but have been isolated so far. Climate change is just stirring the pot forcing more people to move about. I have studied enough science to know the prognosis for human life is not good.

I got a trip to Disneyworld over Xmas. It’s the last place I wanna be right now. But I think we are going. All boosted but I fully plan on getting infected. I have a shit ton of KN95’s, but still.
I mean at this point with omicron, many many are going to be infected. How sick you get is up to you.

I have heard 60% of KN95 masks are fake and do not even meet the standards for KN95 masks. Going to an amusement park seems like a dangerous thing to do. Infected people screaming on roller coasters etc would throw up a fog of virus laden particles for everyone to pass through.

I've been noticing that since Omicron started to spread, I've heard multiple experts on the news saying now basically that everyone is going to get COVID at some point. Adding on that the hope is not to have surges that overwhelm everything and that people get their vaccines and boosters so illness is likely to be much less severe.
To me, this all started off sounding like if you be a hermit you'll be fine and continued that way for a long time. Now it seems to be said that, you're gonna get sick but hopefully not bad. Either way, I'm vaccinated and boostered and I'll get the next booster when needed and I'm not going to big gatherings (I wouldn't anyway to be fair, but def not now) and I wear my mask in public. I don't wear a mask around friends, but otherwise if I don't have one on it's because I don't plan to be very near anyone. If I think a friend has done something risky, then I stay away for a bit. Got a friend that's talking about a big concert soon and I'll probably not be around him for a couple of weeks after. It's all too complex to really be safe. Maybe my friend is safe aside from his friends and the guy that he rides in a van with daily... but his ride-along coworker just went to CoughOnEachOtherCon 2021.
I don't even like colds, so I'm certainly not trying to get COVID over with. With my usual luck, I'll wait till it transforms into the worst thing the world has ever seen and then take my turn with it.

For sure. I'm triple vax'd too. I think if you want to be a part of society in any way, you are going to be exposed to it. There is a chance that you'll be infected. The other option is to be a complete hermit, like you said.
But they were saying everyone should expect to get infected.

I have not heard the "everyone will get infected" bit but then I don't watch TV. I pretty much live like a hermit, let's rephrase that, I AM a hermit and I don't want the covid. I put on a mask when I go anywhere and also wear a mask when anyone visits.
I do hate these flimsy masks. I wish I could find and modify a nice full-face respirator like I wore for years at work. They modify the valves so that all air goes through filters for the covid. It took a bit to find the right one even with a fully equipped safety department at work. Even then I still have scars in a few places where the mask rubbed my skin. A mask like that is high $$$ equipment and I am poor. I frequently forgot I even had the mask on I was so used to wearing it.

I got some brand new Medium size masks if you need/want. When the virus first came about some doctors used the full face snorkels to ventilate patients with positive pressure by utilising 3D printed plastic adapters. At that same time they were running out of disposable masks and face shields. My brainstorming led me to the idea of using the full face snorkel as a full face respirator. My idea was to create a manifold that would allow 4 P100 hepa filters to socket on to the manifold. The manifold would socket into the intake/exhaust on the full face snorkel mask. My idea was to print the manifold to run centerline of a person's head and down toward the back of the head. It would end up looking like a Mahi'ole, the Hawaiian chief helmet like the one you see on Kamehameha statues. ...or like the Hawaiian "warrior" helmet with the mohawk.

Thanks! From experience with half and full masks I would need a full-face respirator. My head is large and my nose has a defect also. I am just defective... LOL

I bought one of these when it all started:
I modified it a bit and wear a disposable mask under it.
I wonder if an air filter could be hooked up to an air line on that deep sea rig? I can't see hauling around lines and a compressor.
