Well now its exercise time again I got the old bike out called Boomerang as I have sold it at two different festivals and has been bought back twice because they cannot fit it in their car after the event or whatever reason.
All pumped tyres up and ready to go and see how fit I am tomorrow. I will dig out the Claude Butler tourer from the 70's and see how that is once I get chance.

Suppose it is fairly modern 190mech but a lot of people in the trade call them bso's. Bicycle shaped objects due to the heavy weight frames and poor quality parts on them. This don't seem to basic on parts but the frame is the old heavyweight type compared to the Claude Butler with the Reynolds 531 tubing. I will see after 10 miles tomorrow if I make it that far. 😊

I keep this locked up even in the garage. I bought this from an old roommate when I was still in Gainesville for $50 . chain and other chrome completely rusted etc. . had it for about 5 years now. spent money on it . got new brakes ,chain , brake handles that I really love this style .New tires , tubes . turned handlebars around and upside down so I can sit up instead of down low- for my back. got around $500 in it now. had the scooter inside my apt. one rainy day working on it. just rode bike home from auto parts - left it out on front porch to dry - 5 feet from wide open front door - went outside to do something - looked around - something not right here- shit- no bike- since scatterbrained - went in checked bedroom - no bike. called best friend -was there in like 3 mins. big SUV- family guy. jumped in- took off north up street- had already called cops while waiting- got up end of street he says ids that it . blue handlebars upturned - very distinctive - I say , hell yeah; some kid riding. if we were smart we would've got phones out for pix - instead Robin yells when we got close - hey , get off the bike . the kid reverses - goes around corner toward apts. . we follow - hauling ass- kid turns into grass between apts. - we're very close - he throws bike down and runs away- never got him . 5 cop cars come - blah blah . now , take no chances . kids would walk by on way home from school. my apartment was 150 feet down the driveway - very bold he was to walk all that way oh. forgot. not really bike knowledgeable. researched it though. has a number stamped under the bearing cage . turns out it's a 98' Trek racing bike -(hope I remember the year right ). I feel very fortunate to have it . all things considered . my buddy Robin did a great job of driving that day in wet conditions

Good job getting the bikes out Milly. Just start out riding in the lowest gear, its the easiest on you and you will probably get bored quickly and start shifting up as you feel like it.
Is that Bolt a Chinese cheapo or a better quality? I bought some bike parts this winter for my Chinese bike but I only ordered from stateside vendors. Wonder if bike and scooter parts are becoming a issue?
If you are interested in Utube videos on bike maintenance I suggest RJ The Bike Guy, he's very knowledgeable on new and old.

Hi snaker it's a cheap frameset with some mid range bling thrown on it me thinks to entice people to buy. Bicycle shop close by will post stuff up so no spares problem for me. Been following my other half on her electric tricycle keeping me fit 😊

Nice bicycles, Milly! I like the Claude in particular.
I'm using my bicycle right now a lot to get out of the house legally during covid lockdown. I just log onto one of the restaurant delivery apps. A typical day is about 4 hours and 30 miles or so. 50 miles on a busy day. Human contact is very minimal. The restaurants are doing a good job with that. I carry a spray bottle with soap and water mix plus terry towels. Wash face and hands all the time.
My family tells me to just stay home if I don't actually need the money. But high blood pressure and weight gain will kill me much more certainly than corona virus and I'm being careful of giving germs to others. And I'm pretty confident I don't have any bad germs to give anyway.
One bonus is that there are a lot more people out riding bikes, walking their dogs and so on. We say "hi" to each other from 15, 20 feet away as we pass by. Yesterday the wind was strong, steady and cold. And there were still people out and about. It gave me the chance to crack small jokes like, "Dig that breeze, huh?". And we all get a laugh.
In this way....at least.....corona virus might be good for the USA.

Thank you bluegoatwoods . Today between shed repair I went to adjust mates gears over garage. Tested it told him all ok bar gear changer missing a click sometime. He said right off on facebook it goes, did not make it, its mine now. Only done 30 miles and has a Deore groupset suspenion seat post that actually works 3x9 gears, 700c wheels really good condition for £100 saves me doing up my other one so quickly which is a raleigh mtb with fair bit of work as I lent the other 2 bikes out to nextdoor and her daughter so they can exercise as they do half marathons but cannot at present. I can now follow Yolanda on her electric tricycle easier Its a carrera crossfire.

Oh, my goodness! The Carera is a sweet looking commuter.
It's not a brand I'm familiar with. But I'd be comfortable on that bike. For many years now I've outfitted my bicycles much like that.

I wish I could find a tadpole recumbent trike I liked. Even the real high cost units don't make it for me. The tadpoles are real hard on your back without a suspension. With a standard diamond frame you can stand up and ride out bumps on your legs and arms. I also want a Gates rubber belt instead of a chain and use an internal gear hub, with a two speed up front. I haven't seen one with the right suspension yet. If I had access to a bike shop and parts I would make my own but engineering and fabricating all the parts for one would be a daunting task.
I had an old Schwinn Letour I bought new back in about 73-74 that I could lift with my little finger. It was a nice old 10-speed bike but I gave it to my son. Due to balance problems I can't ride anything with two wheels.
