Just got my light weights in my variator and its flying! Whats the highest rpm you guys are running yours at? And i was needing help trying to figure out what belt i need, mines not using the whole pullies. I have a short case 150cc gy6 with a 115mm variator and drive face, and an over sized secondary clutch(from what ive been told) and looks like im not using about a quarter inch on the clutch and an 8th of an inch on the variator. Anything helps and thanks in advance

And i was thinking of taking my starter clutch off to take weight off of the crankshaft. Has anyone ever done this? I cant find anything on the interweb about it

Whats your max rpm? My long case has a 835 something belt, not sure what the short case would use. Maybe just go narrower a size? It really just depends on your current size where you can go

Im using the one it said to use for the short case but i was gonna try the next one up, i was gonna do some research on how the sizes work and stuff and go from there.
And as far as max rpm, i want to stay around 10000, and im at 8500 to 8700 rpm right now. Im running the a8 cam thats been lightened, and ncy ti valve springs, and 8g weights in the variator.

Ohhhh, you want more gearing. Yeah, I'd go one wider then. Lighter clutch and bell would help too

Ive got a lightened bell and an adjustable polini clutch. I didnt know how huge the starter clutch was, id imagine itll take alot of rotating weight off the crank, but im not sure how itll effect rpm, or if you can run with it out of the case

Stock 150cc 6500. Change things and then there's a difference. Mine will free rev to 10k but on the street no. I'd say no more than 7000 rpm with a stock stroke would be the sweet spot for acceleration through the variator range WOT. My 172 seems to like a bit less with an A9 cam. Once the variator tops out in it's range it picks up rpm. A good sign you have the Transmission close.

My a8 cam loves the revs, it pulls good till it "redlines"
With the stock cam you could feel it fall off past 6500 rpm. But i cant find any threads of someone taking the starter clutch off and run the bike. I dont want it to raise my rpm so much i have to use 20 gram weights and it shift early and so forth

Ok. In my opinion, that's to much rpm for a constant acceleration. I've found that they do best between 6500 and 7500 rpm. This of course depends on variables. Bore and stroke, Camshaft, cylinder head, your carb, and such. Running a little GY6 at 10 Grand is self defeating.

Its stock stroke and 58.5mm bore (155cc) stock head for compression and an a8 cam and ncy ti valve springs, it seems very happy at 8500ish rpm. Oh yeah with a 30mm flat slide carb, its making power but now i need a nice belt to get it to my tire

Why do you think the belt is the problem? The clutch side or the variator isn't using it's full range?

I havent messed with trans stuff enough to know for sure, but that doesnt seem like a whole deal of room left. Your set up must be nice, mines never seen past 7k through all my tuning so far 😂

Its slowly getting there, its almost a full race build, not good on gas! But it doesnt seem like alot of room left over but its a little sluggish on the take off and i was thinking it was cause of that belt doesnt ride the edge of the clutch. But i might just get a nice kevlar belt the same size and just see if its slipping or not. It might be slipping cause of how much damage it takes after every pull. So ill try that and see if its better.
And the tranny tuning is where its at on the gy6's. Its fun to play with for sure

Why kind of belt are you using? Maybe try some different size belts, I found out mine performs a lot better overall with a slightly shorter belt.

4 stroke GY6 is killing me. I've done everything to it that I'd do to a RB30 to get more power and it all seems to reduce it.
Ported head, A9 cam, lapped valves, stronger valve springs, higher compression and opening the entire intake to 30mm... Nothing but power loss and a thirsty engine. It's got me beat.
