I have a 04 beamer with only 340 miles on it and it died on me the other day. Same thing. It does have spark but very poor. I put a bbk 70cc on it about 150 miles ago. the spark plug boot on this one is really loose on the plug, doesnt grip the plug well at all. Owner said its been a source of past problems. I changed it to a new one, that didnt make it have spark, but now that it does have spark i put the old one back on as a test. it has weak spark with the old cap on it. try a new plug boot/cap

I orderd a new coil. I will test my old coil with the cap off of the new coil.

i think the no start condition on this bike showed up originally from a carb problem and the no spark was a result of sitting since before Hurricane Irene. I opened the drain screw on the bowl when I went to diagnose it at the kids house and no gas came out but i didnt think much of it at the time.

took the carb apart and its not so bad. the float valve seems to want to stick up in its journal, maybe thats it. Its been cleaned and blown with shop air. More later....

Adjusting the carb for that is pretty much the same as the 4Ts... just with less crap to deal with like diaphragms and such. Same procedure for the idle mixture. RPM by the book for idle is roughly 1700RPM.

damn pig has no spark again today. the fact that it comes and goes and i had it running yesterday leads me to believe its CDI. yesterday it would run but spark would cut out at higher revs like the CDI was unable to advance the timing

When I first got the bike, the gas gauge didnt work. Then, out of nowhere, it just starts working 2 weeks later . . . Then, the elect starter stopped working consistently. One day it would work, the next day the battery would die within 2 miles and make the horn and indicators go wack. I pulled the front off of the bike and saw the harness wasnt in place, so I checked all connections and secured the harness to the frame where it was sposed to be. Secured the battery so it would not thump around and all was good until my CDI kill switch plug lost me spark one day. I think my bike was a parts bike for the dealership and thats why all the electrical stuff is wacked.

Well I found problem.I went to harbor freight today and purchased their 13.00 compression tester. I hooked it up and was only getting 30 psi. I pulled the cylinder head and noticed that the snap ring I put in instead of the piston ring to hold the piston to the crank shaft came off and scratched the cylinder walls and damaged my piston and rings . Lesson learned. Never use snap rings to hold your piston.
