Its typical for most long case style mina,s that have a support bearing for the drive shaft in the CVT cover to wobble some. Even with a new bearing the shaft will wiggle around some. Might need a seal and or bearing though? Check the cover bearing as well. They are known for going! Nice build! I think you will like it when done. Good info, I took it apart and didn't see any leak inside the cvt, on the other side of the bearing all that looked ok too. I am going to leave it alone. I did notice one of the bearing sets inside the neck was smashed in half, it's why it didn't turn well and someway sprayed with a foam grease like substance that was hard to clean off. Where do I find replacement bearings? What would really be helpful is a service manual but can't find one. Does anyone have a source for one? I plan to hook up BMX style handle bars, will need a new instrument cluster as well. New grips and brake handle/throttle in order also. I have started sanding some of the fairings and trying to get a smooth finish. I used some 600 grit wet sand and WOW....... very smooth but I noticed many areas I need to work on still just in the one area! Anyway as I put the white paint down as a primer I started thinking of a color scheme.......... the white looks sharp especally with black accents all around. My brother is a huge star wars buff so it will be called "TK-421" I plan to cut the front springs inside the shocks a couple inches and get then an adapter for the rear shock. I want the rear shock to kick back a few degrees and give it a shorter height.

Not sure about a Strada service manual. A Vento Triton manual would be pretty close. Uploaded Here

The scoot does have the 1E40FM cylinder and a 10mm wrist pin........... I was hoping it had a 12mm wrist pin since I counted 15 splines but that theory was crushed. Where do I look for a stroker crank? What specs am I looking for when shopping for one and what tool(s) will I need to swap the crank out? I never split a case open so I did a quick google search and wahlah!!!!! www.49ccscoot.com/disass.htmlI want to get the correct crank & piston that will fit this case as well where I can get the splitter tool. Thanks

There are weird combos, like the FM, that don't conform to the typical large spline/large pin deal. I got an ATV crank that had large spline/large pin... then used a small flywheel. PFS and Autotech355 on eBay are good sources, kaseaparts.com as well. You're looking for a 12mm pin so the rest of the big bores work and then most likely 45mm stroke along with a 54mm cylinder. That would be a 103cc. There are larger cranks that fit, but there are also larger cranks that don't fit without case work. PFS PN 169-138 is a 45mm crank for $100. Autotech has 1 on eBay right now for about $120 shipped that includes bearings and seals. One here says they'll include bearings for a limited time for $98. PFS PN 169-154 is a 54mm Hoca BBK for $150. I tried it on P90 and it performed quite well out of the box on a 42mm crank. Autotech has 'em for around $135. Whatever you get, make sure it comes with a head, some don't. If they tell cylinder height, 77mm is usually for 42mm stroke and 78.5 is for 45. I got my splitter from Rocky Mountain ATV, made by Tusk. Makes the job easy. I've read of people using steering wheel pullers to make a splitter too. If you browse the tech section, there are threads showing reassembly too, even vids.

Gonna reuse the old crank? If not ide use a hammer to split the case. Hit the crank, its fun! Heat the area around the bearing to make the job easier.

You are correct. You wouldn't lose that much going from 45 to 42mm stroke, but they're basically the same price. Looks like you get a wrist pin bearing and studs with the combo, but if you get the 45mm stuff instead and email Carlos he can probably provide those things with the 45mm stuff. I'd also ask for extra base gaskets if you order from him (cheapest place I know of). He will often give a discount by dealing with him via email too.

Thanks for those links. Looks like there will be a lot of "nick-naks" I will need to get such as that. A little progress being made on the project. Painted some body panels over the weekend, and the frame. A lot of sanding by hand; remove stickers, rough sand, wet sand, wet sand fine, wash, clean with alcohol, touch up wet sand, wet sand fine, wash, clean with alcohol, then paint. Look at drips and runs, sand, wet sand fine, rinse, wash with alcohol, paint. Rinse, lather, repeat. These panels have many coats and figure there has to be another way, maybe not. Everyone I ask feedback say those spots I see aren't a big deal. My brother (scooter owner) says you can't see it at 50MPH. I am a perfectionist and wish I could rattle can without runs. I will say I do like the white much more then realized, it really accentuates the curves in the body panels and the contrasting shadows looks nice. Combine that with the black panels and accents TK-421 will look sharp once complete. Frame is done, rough sanded with a wire drill brush and coated in black rustoleum all over. Frame looks good. Outside of that purchased a crankshaft on ebay for $20, it should do the trick. Props to Brent for the heads up on that item. Now I need to find a 54mm cylinder to pair with it.

I hate painting body panels. I learned to just be happy with it unless it's horrible and it saves a ton of time. lol Everything there looks good to me.

A little update. Bought a stroker crank, 45mm, from ebay for $20 ;D (Thanks to this forum) Based on other threads and builds in here as well discussions over at scooterinvasion I am confident it will drop right in without case work. (I haven't split the case yet) I am in search of a BBK that will fit the crank and case and found one from autotech355 that I am pretty certain will pair up; www.ebay.com/itm/330651536571?item=330651536571&viewitem=&sspagename=ADME:X:AAQ:MOTORS:1123&vxp=mtrI ask because I also see this one for less, but it doesn't mention stroke and I can't go by the stock FM cylinder since I am swaping the crank; www.ebay.com/itm/Big-Bore-kit-54mm-Eton-Dinli-Polaris-Kasea-quads-/230710433108?pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&vxp=mtr&hash=item35b769d554I sent an email asking if he forsee's any reason why it shouldn't match up. Does anyone here think there will be an issue? My real concern is the fan shroud and making sure the ports match up. Last thing I want to do is purchase something that doesn't match up. All other measurements listed in the sale seem to jive. Lastly the crank I bought appears to have sat inside an engine for a while, it's pretty dirty and has signs of a rust like substance. What's the best method to clean it? WD40? Kerosene? I just want to wash and remove any/all junk that doesn't belong. Not really interested in cleaning the oil line (arrow first pic) rather the rusty areas that should come off easily. I don't want to damage the bearing just want to make sure they are clean and the crank is clean of any junk.

For the 45mm I think you want the first link, 78mm height instead of 77mm like the second. Look at the shipping charges, the first one isn't more money.
I'd probably spray it down with brake cleaner and then brush what I could off of the crank and spray it again. I'd replace the bearings, but if there's no play and they roll smooth they'd probably be OK. If I'm not putting something together right away I tend to spray it with WD40 and put it in a bag to store it so it won't rust.

Good eye, didn't pay attention to the shipping fee.
I will spray it down then, bearings roll smooth and there is no play in them.
