Not at all. But I’ll say that the ones that are gonna get jacked up are gonna get jacked. Some screws can’t be saved unfortunately. These just minimize slippage. yeah that's why I was asking about the carb bowl screws because my Craftsman screwdriver works so so but tends to slip. Im thinking about dropping few bucks at amazon on a wera or vessel, but read a lot reviews vessel tips break fast. wera jis, is jis fine for regular phillips screws? I read the bad reviews about the Wera on Amazon, and it made me waffle for a few weeks. Now they’re the goto at the shop for myself and the owner; couldn’t be happier. And they don’t get babied. I do not believe they are specifically JIS, but because they designed it as an anti-cam driver, it ends up filling the roll, and works well on regular Phillips too. The Vessel is a JIS screwdriver though. I really dig it. And yeah, I’ve buggered enough screws. Trying to keep that to a minimum.

Sometimes a certain type of hardware just isn't a good fit. I've worked with a lot of snowmobile Mikuni carbs and bowl screws can be a challenge. The different metals, combined with a dash of road salt can be trouble.
I would wiggle the screwdriver around to make sure it was fully seated before turning. Do the same each time taking a new bite. I would normally put the screwdriver in place and whack it, usually with the handle of another screwdriver. Even the grip makes a difference. To break a screw loose I use a hammer fist grip, pinky towards the screw with more force pushing against the screw than turning. Once loose than I change grip with the thumb towards screw
And then I would keep a bag of hex socket screws to replace the buggered bowl screws. All my carb bowls got the hex sockets.

First use of the wera, I had to replace a stiffer spring with a less stiffer spring for my screen door handle.

That’s good technique advice! For me, it’s the bowl screws without washers that are the biggest problem. When the washer does the binding work, it’s far easier to get the screw off.

I figured id update this thread with my review of the wera screwdrivers.
I've had them for around a month now and honestly, I couldn't be happier, the laser etching is still there even though I use these screwdrivers daily (small engine mechanic) they still have the precision fit to where I can let go of the screwdriver and it'll stay put (ie, the pics above)
the grip feels, ok?, doesn't really matter to me, it's good enough for daily use.
if I end up breaking one ill be sure to order another!
ill try to update this thread if anything happens, but for now I'm a happy camper!

I use snap on they grab great and I just give it to the snap on guy any time I want and they put a new blade in. On carb brown screws if they don't loosen right away I don't force them with screw driver I crack them loose with a small set of real brand vise grips it takes them right off I've never had one give me trouble with the vise grip the screw will break or the ear will snap off carb before it slips

Well, first breakage! The wera 335 small flathead has officially chipped! Really disappointed since I really didn't abuse it (never bashed with a hammer, and only used hand force) Guess we will see how good the Warranty is!

I don’t think I’ve broken a screwdriver without doing bad things to it. Interested to see how the warranty works as well.

Yeah, all I was doing was taking off the sidecovers from cheapie (the 50$ ATV) and it has just disintegrated lol.
Hopefully wera honers there lifetime warranty, since this was a defect.

Finally got my screwdriver from them, pretty disappointed it took a whole month for them to get me one, but at least it's here now.
