I don't know if it's always like this, but I recently put in an order with a bunch of OEM yamaha parts. When I added them to my cart 19 out of the 20 parts said they were available within 2 days and one part was listed as "54-57 days." It was enough money to get the free shipping, but one shipping option was $7.95 so that all available parts would be shipped immediately and then the rest once they get them. So they immediately shipped out the three parts that were "in stock" and not ones that had a "in 2 days" thing. Great, getting those three parts are useless. Then I got an email with updated parts availability times. A lot of them are two months out. One item is listed as "no current ETA" but before it was "in stock." Mostly sharing so that anyone else knows their items stock and time estimates are inaccurate and doing that special shipping option may be entirely unhelpful.

It always kills me that a small time company like mine can have accurate stock on the website but a giant like Partzilla can't.

It’s not just scooter parts lots of other projects have gone back to the back burner because months after I order “in stock” parts, as opposed to “available”. I get an email saying it’s not longer an order because the part has now been discontinued (?!) or just not shipping until some other time in the future, or maybe was swallowed by a worm hole.

I did post a little while ago that if anyone needed anything it was the time to buy it because the global supply chains are good and truly borked. They are now and everything is grinding to a halt until they come back up to speed in roughly 6-8 months. Matt

I ran into this with 128mm engine studs for the 54mm cylinder I put on the RT. Said 2-3 days, I paid, 2 days later I get an email that the order has been cancelled. Parts were not available from supplier was there reason.
The refund came through, but then I started getting emails about completing my purchase....0_o
What purchase? They didn't have my parts? Anyway after that experience and a couple others from the big boys, I stopped buying from them as a rule.
Except for occasional Amazon and JP Cycles, everything else has been small retailers only. I haven't had a problem since, am VERY happy with the prices and service, and glad to be buying from folks that love these crazy little machines.

I order from Partzilla a lot - them and Revzilla are my go-tos. When it says "In stock" - usually this means it'll ship pretty quick. When it says "Available in 2-3 days" that means "Available whenever the OEM manufacturer decides to send us stuff" which usually translates to a month or two.
It's a pain in the ass. But, Parzilla has great pricing and a lot of the more obscure models in the US (Like the Tmax) require sending an order to Yamaha who sends the order to their OEM who manufactures the product to order and then ships it to Yamaha in Japan, who then ships it from Japan to Partzilla, who then ships it to you. This is the same regardless of who you order from - a lot of these parts just aren't really available and on hand in the US unless it's a highly available highly selling model. Otherwise, they've got a lot of warehouse space going to parts that are only ordered a couple times a year.
That's my understanding after calling around to a few places asking about OEM parts availability. It's a huge pain in the ass. I'm starting to just order high wear, long turn around items whenever I have the money so I have them laying around when I need them instead of having to wait for months.
