Still have the 150cc scoot but my area has gone mad and driving in this traffic is Russian Roulette. Riders dropping like flies.
Everyone from NewJersey, NewYork and Cultifornia has run from their areas to here to escape the madness there....and brought it with them. MAN those are some angry drivers!
ebikes let me get out on 2 wheels but use paths cars can't take.
Hoping to move away to a less populated place.

I have thought about modding a delta trike with a 750W 36V hub motor in front but cash is scarce to non-existent at the moment. I just want something I can take on a local bike/pedestrian stream-side trail where I can pedal for exercise but have the motor to rescue me if my legs give out. Getting to the trail has some long hills to take. I still need three wheels to ride.

I've been thinking about getting into some small 2 wheeled electric thing. Scooter/moped being more likely for me. I'm sure it's coming eventually. Everything is going that way.
I find electric vehicles to be dull. Quick acceleration is nice, but I like engines. Porting a cylinder and increasing voltage just aren't the same. I don't care what some electrons are doing, but the sound of an engine at full song makes life worth living.
So there's the part of me that would like to be current, pun intended. Then there's the part of me that says enjoy engines as much as possible while they're still here and still practical. Especially two-strokes. Lucky me; most small electrics are not intended for someone living in the country with 10 miles between towns so I have my excuse for now.

Here in the U.K ebikes (battery assisted pedal bikes) are limited 15mph and electric scooters (vino Zuma size ) to 28mph,like any rule this is made to be broken and is by most owners I see.The escooters have been dropping down price to compete with petrol engined scoots and on paper they win overall. My excuse for sticking with my old 50cc Yamaha,s is the whole concept is to be "green" my scoot is already made ,the longer I use it the greener it gets so I,m saving the planet on a 2stoke Geoff

I see a few Suron electric bicycles around here. One went past me in the cycle lane about a month ago. I was doing 40mph at the time! A group of them were riding past my road on sunday. Can do some pretty impressive wheelie on them. 😉 Looks like fun. In the U.K. They are illegal to use on the road, but like E scooters, it doesn't seem to stop them.

I considered an ebike, as I am a cyclist of sorts. But looking at the prices, a gas scooter was much less expensive, and the arthritis kinda gets in the way these days. Plus I already have two bicycles. Three if you count bare frame and parts. Four if you count the one I have waiting for me in Australia.
But tbh, with hindsight, an ebike would have helped to get my weight down for the knee replacements I have had to put off.

Speaking of knees, I damaged mine bad running on almost flatlands (one hill in town) with a single speed 26" bike with a banana seat and ape hangers. It was geared high. If I remember correctly a 56 tooth gear in front and 11 tooth in back. My knees have complained loudly over the years. I have avoided knee replacements so far but the left one is getting bad. Along with a delta trike I have considered a tadpole trike which is not easy to electrify, but I figured out how. I have not found one designed like I would want yet. I even considered building one but what my mind could do my body could not. I have too many 'projects' to ever complete. The plans and dreams will die with me.

I've been researching this a fair amount lately, but not really committed so far. I'm concerned that rules, etc around the US could be changed overnight on something like this. The hardcore bicyclists are quite the squeaky wheels with clout and will squeak if the electric bikes catch their ire. So a route that may be open now may be banned tomorrow. The setups/costs vary a ton, from multi thousands for specialty made bikes to multi hundreds for kits for existing bikes to rounding up your own parts for pretty cheap. The evolution of the design and capacities is pretty amazing as well. Something top of the line 5 years ago barely competes with the cheapest today. And the big debate of our days is the mid-mount vs wheel hub mount.

No man is safe when the legislature is in session. -maybe from Will Rogers?
This is a shortened quote from a longer one about life liberty and property.

I bought this Raleigh fold up electric bike in times of more money and it done about 15miles today .I do need get out on it more for exercise. Hopefully when I check tomorrow the blacksmith will have done what's needed on the bmx frame so I can electrify it and put the sidehack back on.

Just road tested wife's tricycle make sure all the electrics work before selling. I'm ok with the handling of them but this has a tilt feature so you can unlock the frame which I did when moving. I nearly crashed it. Got use to it now. Get it ready for eBay soon.

I just built an e-trike from parts and a new trike. The shitty China trike was $375 and I have about $600 in the whole project. I ended up just going with a 350W 24V mid-mount brush motor and 20AH SLA battery set geared for about 10mph max. I just need a little help for a couple hills. A delta is dangerous to ride fast.

Can you over volt yours to 36v. Delta trikes can be a handful sometimes I had the blacksmith make me a tadpole trike out of 2 old Raleigh fold up bike's. He even got the Ackerman steering spot on. If I was building a electric tricycle at any point again I would use sla's as not bothered about the weight in a tricycle and plenty of space to store them FrankenMech. Never tried a mid mount motor yet though.
