Years ago I was riding my bicycle back and forth to work daily and I modded a stupid simple e-motor to it. It was 24v and friction fitted against the tire. I had a 3" hole saw bit with friction tape on it running against the tire- no controller or anything- just a heavy duty on/off switch directly to the batteries lol. It really did work great! I'm digging around to try to find pics...

Good evening humanshield you can get away with higher speed and wattage around here but just need to keep a lookout in town as plod don't have much crime to deal with in the sticks so you can be an easy target. I don't know if it's still the same but Friday and Saturday nights the plod preferred to patrol the country side so they didn't have to deal with the town drunks fighting after the pubs turned and hopefully it had all died down by the time they got back. In my younger days I always wondered why we kept getting pulled on our motorbikes in the middle of nowhere up top a mountain. My mate told me a few years back who use to be plod in the county.

There are some really neat dirt-e-bikes out there that I would be fun to tear up. Although for road, this would be really fun:

So, I ended up getting a 1000watt conversion kit and installed it on my 29" Mongoose.
WOW ! Daddy like.
I can hit 60kph on this thing. That's faster than some 50cc scoots.
I especially like the quiet power. Lately I've been riding it more than my last remaining scooter (I once had 5) Still have and occasionally ride the 150.
Anyway, it's a shame politicians seem hell bent on being our nannies. The UK is awful. California and NewYork enforce those kinds of laws too. But Texas, Florida and some other US states don't seem to be as restrictive.
I haven't had anyone in law enforcement say anything about mine, but then I faux peddle when going fast just in case. haha!
I should post a pic of my ebike. It's pretty special and is decked out pretty good.
Yes, pics please! Ever since the covid crap has been going around, you wouldn't believe how people have been disregarding traffic laws in Syracuse, city streets and 'burbs 'n all. Dirt bikes, wheelies, no registration, donuts, speeding, huge conglomerations of all sorts of bikes, just trying to taunt the law, hanging out making noise. But like you said, this nannie crap is ridiculous, and I'm actually glad people are revolting in this manner. There's at least a couple guys that know how to ride a wheelie forever, I always gotta run to see who it is.
