Ordering a combo temp gauge tonight. This won’t happen again.

With the bigger Carb . You will have more top end and take off power . The cruising temps drop a notch .
62 mph is quite a accomplishment on the flats .

What should the optimal operating temp when tuned correctly?

For safety alot of us make sure that at long wide open runs temps that we level off below 350 degrees on our daily riders . On my ride to work I have two 3-4 mile runs back to back I run wide open . The vinos with street pipes turning 9k rpms I peak and level off at about 310-320 degrees give or take based on humidity . On the Zuma with a yauni R pipe turning 10 k plus rpms I was running 340ish on my road trips in to work.
Fuel mixture provides about 80 per cent of the cooling for our cylinders so when you have a safe tune the temps just level off.
With your temp gauge you watch for abnormal temp spikes to catch air leaks.
I still jet the conventional way finding the richest main that gives best performance . Richest needle setting that gives good throttle response .

Not sure where you prefer to order from but treatland is a good place to order carb and carb parts among other scooter parts they tend to have a sale every other month.
"josequit" is the code for 15% off for next ten days i just ordered a 17.5 mm carb choke kit and cable from them at just over 100 bucks with free shipping.

So I’m back on the road again. I couldn’t save the 70cc Polini. So I went for a 49cc Polini kit. Just got back from a 45 min WOT ride and it was great. My temp didn’t get above 270 degrees. Stock carb, stock air box, main jet 98, idle jet 40, top speed 52.73. I think she has more. Going to do some cvt tuning. What’s anyone’s thoughts on the temp?

Be interesting bro see how it performs. Over here it's cheaper to buy the 70cc Kits normally. Not a lot of demand for the smaller kits I guess. You should be able to go down a bit in the jetting. That's quite big unless you have a pod filter. The temps are quite low too.

Got back from another ride. Did some light cvt tuning. Got 1.3 mph more out of it. Going to be ordering a Polini torque driver with straight v grooves and some lighter roller weights. It seems to need lighter rollers. I think I like this 49cc kit better than the 70cc kit. Still a wheely monster. Temps went down to 246-248 WOT. Probably from the cooler night temps I guess? I will definitely never tune with out a temp gauge again. It’s already paid for itself. So hers the setup I’m running as of now on the bike. Polini sport49cc kit, Polini team4 pipe, Polini clutch, Polini clutch bell, Polini variator, Polini 5.5 roller weights, Polini carbon reed petals, stock carb with 98 main jet, 40 pilot, stock airbox with snorkel removed. Top speed 53.

That's a good top speed for a 50cc kit. You should get a little more when it's run in, and a little more setup. 👍

246-248 WOT. you still got 100 degrees head space to lean it out more. temp gauges are magical

Does this sound like a belt slipping? Start going up a hill, the mphs drop but the rpms stay the same. For example, 53 mph flat 9200 rpms, start going up a hill mph 38-40. rpms 9148?

Not really, belt slipping should have higher RPM. Belt slip is most notable when accelerating from a start at peak power. You can feel a lack of forward momentum though the revs are rising.

Ok, so call me stupid 😂 I should have read the little 4 page manual that came with the cylinder kit. This motor puts out most of its power down in the 8000 rpm range. So with the light roller weights I was running, it was reving to high and lose power in the higher revs. So when I was going up hills it was reving high but losing power. So I had some 7.8 gram rollers and and put the softest torque spring I had in. And all I can say is Wow!! What a difference. I lost 3-4 mph on top speed but gained a ton of power and pulling torque. From 0-30 it pulls really hard. But from 30-50 it feels like nitrous kicks in. I think if I can get some 7-7.5 gram rollers, I’ll find the sweet spot. Temperature went up to 285-290 at WOT for about 20miles straight. very pleased with this setup till I get a few more sets of rollers.

This is where the fun starts. Trying to keep the power, while getting the top speed back. In some setups even quarter of a gram can make a difference. It's just trial and error. I used to drive the wife crazy with all the rollers I used to buy. 😂
