My neighbor has a C100 and sort of convinced me to buy this broken one that came up for sale nearby. I figured it would be a good opportunity to learn something new. Cleaned the carb, replaced the spark plug, and have been trying to troubleshoot the no spark situation. I have some parts on order and hopefully that will fix it. It's a bit different working on something with points, condenser, selenium rectifier, etc.
The paint is in good condition but has some damage/things missing. It would be pretty cool if I can get it running!

All that range go for silly money over here in the UK. Is it the same over there?

All that range go for silly money over here in the UK. Is it the same over there? I'm not really sure how much they sell for but they do have a following. The smaller "trail" and mini bikes go for more.

The 3-position ignition switch had been swapped with a basic toggle switch. I'm guessing that would work but really can't tell. It's an AC dynamo so it should start without battery but haven't gotten spark yet. Maybe the new points will do it.

Those era bikes all had breaker points under the flywheel, they gotta be clean and smooth and break exactly at the "F" mark on the flywheel, can be accessed without removing the flywheel..Get a manual, study it,make the adjustments, then fire it up!!!

It's clear that the aptitude of the people reading manuals back in the 60s was higher. The main info regarding points is ".3-.4" doesn't even have the units clearly (but i believe it's mm). there's no dumbed down tutorial with pictures, etc. Yeah there are three marks on it, a "T", a "F" and also a "|" mark. From places online i couldn't figure out if the .3mm gap was supposed to be adjusted at "T" or at wherever the biggest gap is or what. New points should come tomorrow so that i can play around with it. I put a tube in yesterday so it's at least testable. Tires are trash. once it runs (hopefully that's possible) i'll get new rubber.

There is no real 'gap spec',the points are adjusted to open at the "F" mark..A roadside method was place a piece of cellophane wrapper from a cigarette pack between the points and adjust the points so the piece just releases at the "F" mark..

put the new points on and tried the "F" mark strategy. no spark. I'm going to guess theres some deeper wiring that will need to be sorted out.
Compression tested a bit above 90psi, maybe 92-93 but my tester isn't super precise. manual says 100 so i'd think that should be enough to run.

do you have a strong battery? Some of the old Honda bikes had battery fired ignitions..

I ordered a battery last night, thinking along the same lines.
The c100 is way more common and most info easily available online is for those bikes. The c102 has electric start and is a bit different and I guess less common.

With a new battery I was able to test some things out but still can't get spark. From everything I can find the c102 does need a battery to provide spark. Maybe the points need to be adjusted more, or maybe something else is messed up. I'll keep trying.
