I am looking to swap my ruckus. Have a stock engine to build. Slowly assembling the engine and prepping to swap next winter.
My goal is to out accelerate a stockish Honda grom or keep up with it to 50-55. I only have 2 miles of 55mph and then the rest of my riding is done in 45mph or less.
I am leaning towards the stage 6 r/t 70cc race cylinder and matching pipe and carb.
For now I am looking to figure out what gears I may need and what cvt setup to order in. What gears would be the best fit to run 55 mph with the stage 6 70cc race cylinder and what variator/clutch combo to hold the 15-19hp area and be easily tuned?

I’d lean towards Polini for the variator, but that’s what I know (I’d do a Polini cast iron top end as well, but again, that’s me - Stage 6 is good stuff!).
One of the members here will know about the gears, but some will depend on your tire size.

Gear setups will vary by engine style. I assume it's a horizontal Minarelli, but a Zuma engine won't take the same gearset as a 1E40QMB for example. I can tell you that around 11:1 works well for strong acceleration and good top speed if you use the tall 10" tires or standard 12" that comes on the Chinese stuff (about 19" diameter). You can go numerically lower, but those have been good multi-purpose gears (street, drag race) for myself and others here. I like the Malossi over range CVT setups. Either one, steel or aluminum rear pulley, works. I did have a steel rear pulley come apart on my scoot, so I think the aluminum setup is better. Plus it's the latest greatest... not that the design is all that new now. You can just get a variator and a straight groove torque driver, but the OR CVT kits do an amazing job of helping you get into the power and stay there, plus you gain a little belt travel. Pair that with a good clutch setup and it will be very capable with the power that you should have. I really like the Stage6 MKII clutch if you are looking for one. I did a whole vid about setting mine up and testing it out : youtu.be/dV2qgdgmwkM
