The Free Agent I got off my son is having a Sidehack from the other 20" I got put onto it and electrified with a front wheel motor. Just decided tonight as I was sorting stuff out for Glastonbury festival. I done a quick mock up and can fit brackets without having to damage the frame sandwiched between decent rubber so the plates on Sidehack bolt directly to flat plates the other side of the frame in 2 points. Only thing I will need is a 24" wheel on the Sidehack to replace the 20" wheel. Back from Glastonbury festival and wheel now dropped off to be respoked onto the old rim. Things are moving on. If i am lucky only a sensorless controller to pick up and SLA's or lithium battery see what I can afford at the time.

Throttle is usually running off 5VDC supply from the controller and sends a 0-5v signal back to the controller, kind of like a fuel level sensor. Some throttle units have an ON/OFF switch built in. I have no idea how a pedal sensor works.
Did you get new bearings in the hub motor when it was in the shop?
You need some Boeshield T-9 for those chains and parts.

Ummmm in a word no. But will once running. That's good to know re throttle. I have one with the on/off switch on it i can use for the lights. Found leads so only expense is controller at £48. Hopefully the pedalec sensor and display is not voltage sensitive and i can use that too. Will check on electric bicycle forum later and the lithium battery off the works bike will do for now🙂

The throttle ON/OFF switch may not work for lights, mine interfaces with some circuits in the controller. I used another pair of switches for the 24V lights and a 24V horn.
I ran a 12/24/xx voltage cigarette lighter style power port off the 24V battery through a 10A breaker then plugged a LED digital battery voltage display and 5V USB charger module into it. I can then monitor the 24v battery and charge my phone if required. The power port is zip tied to the handlebar gooseneck angled so I can see the display. I think those USB charger modules can be found for various system voltages. Since I used heavy SLA batteries I can also use the power port to charge the system batteries. The controller modules have circuits in them that cut off when the battery voltage gets low. My 24V controller cuts out when the battery hits ~20V which is slightly low, so I wanted to monitor the voltage myself.
You might want to ask Brent to move this thread into the E-bike section.

Well the project is moving on. Tomorrow I drop it off at the blacksmith so he can re jig the sidecar and make detachable mount's for the bike as well.

I was wondering how it was going. Did you figure out the lights and pedal sensor?
That bike must be incredibly slow. Can you affix a bigger front sprocket on the bike for more speed? Maybe even install a derailleur on the rear?
Is there any way to rig up a generator off the bike rear wheel for when you are coasting down hill or braking to charge the batteries?

I need to make a drive hub for the right rear wheel. To do that I need to get one of my lathes operational. The OEM drive hub was complete Chinese shit. There is always something else one must do to get anything done
