Tell us more about your scoot. What engine size does it have? If it is a 50cc that seems pretty normal for performance but you may be able to help it a little.

Welcome!
The Met and the Met 2 are very different scoots.
The Met 2 is specifically made for a “moped” designation for states that have one. That means lower horsepower, and severely restricted speeds.
The carb has a different needle, and diaphragm spring. The variator is restricted, the intake is slightly different, the ECU is rev limited, and the cam is different as well. I seem to remember it using Ruckus gears as well, that when paired with the Met’s smaller tire, keeps speeds low.
You can overcome all of this (the cam probably isn’t worth splitting the case for). A standard OEM carb, intake, and variator are easy enough. If you swap the ECU, you’ll need a matching rear electrical harness.
You can probably grab a slightly used 2006-2009 Metro GET motor for not too much money and swap it out. If you find a Ruckus motor, you have to change out the swingarm from your Met.

yes it is a 50 cc but going downhills I can steal the engine slow down the scooter to stay at 29. I was just hoping there’s something I can do to increase top speed

I was just hoping there’s something I can do to increase top speed Right now, it can’t go faster because of all the restrictions. You can take every single one of them off. It might seem daunting, but with the exception of the variator, it’s all done with a Phillips head screwdriver, and 10mm socket. The variator is just a bit trickier, and it helps to have an impact wrench.

yes it is a 50 cc but going downhills I can steal the engine slow down the scooter to stay at 29. I was just hoping there’s something I can do to increase top speed That is the rev limiter it will not let the engine rev beyond a certain rpm so you can trick it by increasing gear ratio by changing the variator or getting taller tires one size larger this will get you higher speed at same rpms Jhbilly gave you a pretty good list of next steps after that carb and intake could be upgraded so you breathe better and can support higher rpms the ecu swapped out so you can rev higher . Whats your budget ?

Scooter Swap Shop has a replacement carb that’s tuned toward the GET engine.
