And tried to kill me!
Fahker felt the need to come over into my lane. I tried but failed to evade. Felt almost like they were trying to play chicken.
Hit Toyota Tundra head on while on my Derbi Atlantis.
Compound fracture in left femur, left patella shattered, ulna, radius, and somethinga more in my wrist all broken on left. All the bruises.
This happened on the 23rd… I'm out of the hospital but in inpatient rehab/therapy for at least two weeks and who knows how long it’ll take for me to be able to walk or use my left hand again.
Damn inattentive cagers!!!! Ugh.

That is the one thing that bothered me while riding, -felt nekid out there, vulnerable, no protection. Cagers were faster and were armored.
Turdota driver was probably yakking on phone.
Get well soon.

Glad you are still mostly in one piece. Hopefully the rehabilitation will go well for you. Idiots like this are why I wear all the gear, all the time.

That sucks! Hope you heal up quick and good. Many cagers around here have lost their F*****g minds, they care about anything but their own lives and their phone.

Damn dude. That sounds awful and I'm sorry it happened.
I was behind a car a week ago for about 10 miles and the entire time they were looking up and down (presumably at a phone) while swerving around. Most of the time at least 1/2 of the car was in the shoulder. They went into the grass a few miles into me following them and that didn't even make them quit. It's unreal. This was on a road to the county seat, where I always see cops because Sheriffs, State Police and multiple courts are there... and naturally not 1 for 10 miles that day.

I was wearing a full face helmet, leather gloves, t-shirt, dickies overalls. Only place more gear would have helped would have been my toes. My feet got really bruised somehow. I was wearing simple fabric fashion hiking boots rather than my serious Ariats. There was no slide to this accident so the lack of jacket and proper pants didn’t hurt me. I’m pretty sure I went crunch into his grille and fell off when he stopped, like a roadkill bird.
I can’t think of any gear that would have prevented or reduced the broken bones. Teflon turtle shell? Lol.
I don’t know how I’m gonna convince my wife not to be upset if I want to keep riding. Hell, I don’t know if I’ll want to keep riding. I’ve got many months though before it’s even a real question.
I’m quite pissed they killed the Dirty Derbi as it was my deceased brother’s bike.

Have they charged the driver with anything?

Have they charged the driver with anything? Yes. If only for monetary purposes I’m glad he has actually been charged with being at fault.

Glad you're somewhat ok, more importantly still alive. Distracted or unattentive drivers are super dangerous. You didn't mention it was an issue in your accident but people on a hand held cell phone while driving need to be held responsible. It's illegal in about 1/3 of states and should be everywhere. Hope you heal up quickly and totally.

I hate to say it but it sounds like you may actually need one of those 'ambulance chasing' personal injury lawyers.
Distracted driving problems started way back with the installation of AM radios in vehicles. Even then the injuries increased rapidly and were alarming people. The fact that I can remember those days and the legal wrangling that followed gives you an idea how old I am...

Heal soon, it does worry me getting older as I don't bounce so well now. Like you FrankenMech I am a living fossil and remember CB radios over here but most people could be seen sat in their cars usually on a hill top using them not driving.

Like you FrankenMech I am a living fossil and remember CB radios over here but most people could be seen sat in their cars usually on a hill top using them not driving. I actually had a CB. I only listened, but it was there if needed. I installed several for my father's RVs (caravans) and he used them all the time. My first car had an AM radio that used tubes. I think I still have an old SWR meter used to tune antenna systems for CB radios.
I don't bounce at all anymore. Any broken bones are fatal, even a bruise can be. Diabetes is HELL.

Goddamn idiots on their phones. I see it all the time here too. Is it illegal over there to be holing your phone in your hand while driving? And if so, how high is the ticket? I think over here it's like €380 if the police catch you holding your phone. We even have camera's looking from above into you car to see if you are holding a phone. You'll get your fine in the mail.
