What's a good helmet that's also somewhat budget friendly?

What is your budget? Open or full face helmet?

What is your budget? Open or full face helmet? Prefer full face. Anything in the $100 range?

AGV do some cheaper full face helmet about that price. Will be much better than a no name brand. A good way to buy helmets this time of year is to visit a motorcycle dealer or clothing retailer. They are selling last year's designs cheap, to make way for the new designs coming in soon.

That's what I did. Cycle Gear/Revzilla often have closeouts, for example.

I wasn't looking for high speed protection, just <30mph. I purchased a modular helmet off eBay and then modified it for some better summer ventilation and winter fog-free operation. I didn't want to "experiment" with an expensive helmet. It works but it would probably not protect me from a 60mph collision but then at that point I would be dead or dying anyway.

My HJC hybrid cost ~$150. And having been down a couple of times, neither at high speed, I can tell you that thereβs no way in hell Iβd go open face.

Having risen motorcycles on the road for nearly 40 years. I've seen some horrible face injuries while wearing open face helmets. But it's your choice. I not only wear a full face helmet, I wear a jacket, gloves, boots and textile trousers. I still have the scar on my leg from sliding off at relatively low speed. Surfing down the road while half on the motorcycle as it slides isn't fun.

Being diabetic and very slow to heal I have gone back to a cage
A broken leg would be fatal and a horrible death from gangrene.

Now we need the leaned over tucked in action shot on the long sweeping turn π That was taken in about 2009. Loved that bike, but stupidly part exchanged it for a motorcycle.
