The high idle might be a little adjustment of your fuel/air screw.
Sorry you’re having issues with the sight glass gasket. It’s a pain to get set without a crease or fold. I’m trying to remember the trick to it.

I’m trying to remember the trick to it. Any help on that issue would be greatly welcome. The one I made was ever so slightly longer than the old one that wasn’t working. I popped the CVT cover off again to recheck torque on the variator and clutch nuts and found my replacement o-ring creased.

600 mile update…
The Vino has been my daily driver ever since it came off life support.
After deleting all of the emissions stuff, a simple adjustment of the idle screw solved the high idle problem.
A few more eBay finds and it now has a complete set of color matching plastic parts. The left side panel is not in the best shape but one of these days I will weld in some new tabs so that it fits properly. The only part I’m missing is the rubber floor mat. They seem to be unobtainable. I noticed that it was there in the photos from the Facebook marketplace listing where I bought it. I have the seller checking to see if he still has it.
The oil leak problem persists. I have a new o-ring on order (backorder) from 2 different suppliers. It is now a race to see who is the first to deliver.
I’m currently working on making a new muffler. The one I have on there is quite large in diameter and the center stand hits it when in the driving position causing a terrible rattle. I have a Champaign cork lashed to the foot of the stand to prevent further noises and damage until I get this resolved. I also don’t like the overall tone of the muffler I’m using currently. It has a small diameter outlet pipe that I believe is the cause of this unpleasant tone. The new muffler has a much larger outlet which would deepen the tone.
Today, after 600+ miles of riding, I believe I broke the CVT belt. I was cruising at full throttle (52-ish MPH) when it suddenly lost power to the rear wheel. I coasted to within 1-1/2 miles from home and had just begun my walk of shame pushing the bike when a friend pulled up behind me in a side-by-side. He towed me home. That’s a pretty short lifespan for a new Gates belt. I have a new belt on order which will be here Tuesday. I was going to open it up that day anyway to install some Dr Pulley sliders that are scheduled to arrive the same day. We will do a thorough investigation at that time.

Pretty sure it’s the belt, looks like I used to be a belt🧐

Dang! Wonder what caused that, cant be too much power as it's a hit-n-miss 4stroke..Maybe something in the case rubbing on it, or oil??

I’m now of the suspicion that I may have an issue with the main seal on the crank in the CVT side. Can that seal be replaced without a complete engine tear-down? I checked the service manual but it didn’t have any mention or procedures on the crank oil seal.

I have used this method in the past and had success.

I really don’t like to get dirty. I really, really don’t like greasy, oily dirt. So, I did a thorough degreasing before tearing in any farther. Don’t worry… I rammed a rubber stopper in the sight gauge path so I wouldn’t get crap in the oilpan. Found an oil seal in-stock at one of the big box parts stores in the nearby big town. Going to town anyway this evening for a Father’s Day supper so I’ll stop and grab that on the way.

The big box parts store was a bust. No seals for me.
I spent a bunch of quality time scouring the internet for a seal that I could have in my hands in the next couple days as I need to have this machine operational by Friday. I have my skills test for my motorcycle endorsement on Friday and it’s either this or my son’s crotch rocket. I found a seal on Grainger that will be ready for pickup at a nearby outlet on Wednesday.

The epic search for the proper oil seal has come to an end. Just a little side note… sometimes, the internet is wrong. The part that I searched so hard to find based on internet research was not the correct size. Luckily, when I extracted the old seal, I did not obliterate the markings and was able to determine the correct seal. Correct seal located, purchased, installed, and my oil leak problem has been solved. Well, at least til I rode it around for a while😠. It has been reduced by 75% so there has been progress made. And I did learn some valuable things about how this whole sight glass engineering catastrophe works. The sight glass is not just a dead end tunnel from the engine case to the CVT case… there is an “in” and an “out” so that means there are even more opportunities for this thing to leak oil. YAY for me!!! The Dr Pulley sliders have added 3mph to my flat road, no wind speed and it seems to pull better up hills. And, I made this!!! Since the original floor mat could not be found and new are unobtainable, I made my own from a rubber truck mud flap. It is held on through the original mounting holes with plastic automotive trim fasteners. Motorcycle endorsement skills test tomorrow.

Glad you found the seal. Do you have a link for it? Might grab one before I actually need it.
Good luck on the MC test.

Motorcycle skills test passed!!! The guy before me was riding a Harley Sportster and failed. The guy after me was using a scooter. I asked the examiner and he said it is getting more common for people to use larger displacement scooters. My neighbor got a $300+ ticket a couple weeks ago for no endorsement (after 6 years). He wants to use my Vino for his skills test rather than his 1100cc Harley. Probably a good idea.
I bought the seal off the shelf at a local electrical supply house (they stock a huge selection of bearings and seals). The size is 22-32-7. Probably can get it at any good auto parts store. After another 100 miles or so of riding, I’m no longer leaving puddles of oil. Maybe it needed to run for awhile to seat itself in.

Do you suppose that the deletion of the emissions has created a situation of high pressure in the crankcase causing the oil to blow by the seal? Gentle slow speed riding doesn’t seem to bring a puddle but high speed extended riding does.
