New scoot came with the frame for a windscreen attached, missing the clear plastic part.

I like them in the winter and on my touring bikes.

I love mine. Easier riding, and I gained a couple of mph.
And I clearly dispensed with the sissy thing. I ride a scooter around, so that isn’t a thing.

Well, since no one thinks I’m a sissy for having a wind screen, I went ahead and bent a pice of .200” acrylic to match the contour of the empty frame that was on the bike when I got it. I think I’m going to remake it though as there are a couple things I don’t like … both involve glasses. I think I want to add a bit to the bottom of the acrylic as I get a strange new concentrated breeze from underneath that blows off my “cheaters” that I hang from the collar of my shirt when not in use. The top also needs to be raised just a titch as the wind coming off the top of the wind screen hits me in the forehead and wiggles my regular glasses. On a positive note, my hair looks awesome after a ride!😎

One thing to remember as a scooter owner is that most people think we look silly for riding these things anyways. Adding something functional like a windscreen doesn't really change the general opinion.

I plan on redoing mine in the near future seeing as I scraped the heck out of mine when I laid my scooter down. Did you hear it at all, or just bend it?

I tried just using a heat gun and bending it by hand but the acrylic takes a long time to get to “bendy” stage even with a big hair dryer size heat gun. I then used a couple bar clamps to bend the curve so I could just use the heat gun without wrestling the acrylic at the same time. I found that the acrylic magically popped out of the clamps when ready.

Great work! I never liked one except in the rain or on Long rides. An old motorcycle guideline is too look just over the windshield, not thru it. The wind will just touch the top of your helmet.

I had a windscreen and heated grips on my TaoTao for winter. Call me a sissy if you like, but I didn't see many others out in the real cold regularly. Where were the cool people's bikes when it was 20 degrees? Tucked away under a cover.
I've taken the little TaoTao out with big me on it in a full face, riding jacket, gloves, long pants and boots in the summer when bars and clubs close in a beach town. Do that once and you'll get over worrying if people think you look silly on the scoot or you'll give up scooting. I've had people tell me I'm too big for scoots a bunch. I even had a guy come up to me at a light and tell me I was way too old to be out there. F them. Do you.
Anyway, sorry I'm late but nice work on the custom screen.

Professionals used ovens to heat the plastic and a wood mold covered with terrycloth for forming 60 years ago. That has probably changed nowadays. Watch aircraft manufacturers make airplane canopies sometime.
