I had an appointment earlier this week with the urologist that removed my kidney, to discuss the results of the CT scan and chest X-ray I had last week. Everything is clear for now so I am very grateful. I am experiencing a new side effect likely from the treatment. My mouth and teeth hurt due to inflammation and thrush but I should not complain. I am 6ft up rather than 6ft under I am still having a hard time accepting the death of my friend earlier this month. There is a hole in my soul that simply cannot be filled. I did not realize just how much he meant to me.

I got good news today from the Doctor. Recent blood work shows my kidney function is not any better than the last test in July but it is also not any worse, it is stable ATM. Another test index that decides what stage of CKD you are at actually improved a bit. I was 1 point away from stage 4 CKD but now I am 8 points away from stage 4. That gives me a little breathing room. I am also no longer considered pre diabetic since I nearly completely cut out sugar a while back. The only thing wrong ATM is my thyroid is way out of wack, likely caused by the Keytruda treatments. So they upped my synthroid medicine dose quite a bit to counteract. I also had another Keytruda infusion today, everything went fine.

Met with the Oncologist yesterday, he is stopping my Keytruda treatment for a few months due to the side effect I have been having of an extreme dry mouth. He is worried toxicity is building up from the Keytruda.
Met with the Nephrologist for the first time today, have been waiting 5 months to get a visit. She said all things considered my remaining damaged kidney is doing pretty well. She believes the damaged was caused by me taking naproxen sodium (Aleve) everyday for 4+ years. I had to take it to be able to function due to the pain I was having at the time. No pain now since they removed the Kidney with the giant mass on it.
May you learn from my mistake, never take OTC pain meds longer than recommended. It could easily damage your kidneys especially if you drink alcohol with them, which I did not do.

ive heard keto diet is good to help get rid of diabetes. i've never had diabetes even tho i had a few family members who did, but i was brought up drinking milk most of the time and eating meat or eggs instead of loads of bread and carbohydrates. tuna sandwiches, something with meat in it is my daily supper. nothing with sides of loads of fries or anything. if i do i do it sparingly. and i drink pop drinks everyday, 5 or so per day too.. used to when they were in bottles and sugar i wouldnt even drink 2 a day. the new stuff dries you out. i found some sugar pops some time ago and I couldn't drink more than 2-3 a day just as i used to. keto but i would suggest less nuts because your stomach isn't like a birds that can eat nuts.

Just had a friend pass yesterday with stage4 cancer and just heard about a friend Jo who is only 50 has a 10% chance of survival with the new treatment for brain tumor after chemo and something else failed to shrink it. She miffed because she can't drive or play her wind instruments as she is a classical musician. Plus another funeral Saturday for a friend's 28 yr old son in Bristol. It seems to be the year for it again. Stay healthy and safe everyone.

My problems pale in comparison, maybe next year will be better for us.

Thank you oldgeek but thing's just going crazy now and you couldn't make it up! I saw a post on social media last night of a couple I know who have been going out together since my early twenties when I use to frequent the local rockabilly events, over 40 years and they got married yesterday. Less than 3 hours later he was dead. So far that's one young lad unknown cause, one of stage 4 cancer, one of hypothermia and the last one unknown 3 since Monday. Let there be a break 😔

It,s my 64th today to round it off I popped in for a lung cancer scan at my local supermarket!! After a few Q&As I was CT scanned ,job done I will hear in a few weeks whether I need further treatment, the whole process took 20mins. The nurses face was a picture as I lied about when I started smoking aged 13 it was earlier!.Bear in mind here in the UK this is all free on our NHS,the only downside is the the teeth sucking GP and nurses at my local surgery who monitor my health if I dodge this kind of check.
