The Build section on this forum is pretty active, so here I am creating an account to keep you posted about this little dragster. I figured you would probably enjoy it. This is for drag only, all it sees is 1/8 and 1/4 mile a few times a year. The brainstorming, parts sourcing and building are as fun as the race days. The Goal Fastest and Quickest scooter I can build. Needs to look like a scoot. No dragster frame. No chain drive. No literbikeengineswap. Push the limits of what is done with great details and high build quality. I've build quite a few scooters over the years, but since 2020 this is the only and last one. You can't nail everything the first time, I'm pro iterations. This is will be the third version of the same scooter. Until a fourth one next year... V1 : From vision to reality. Parts sourcing, frame building, engine assembly. Putting everything together. 1/8 : 7.69 @ 85.68 mph 1/4 : 12.45 @ 99.56 mph V2 : Upgrade a lot of parts, mostly on the frame/cycle. Engine stayed the same. 1/8 : 7.53 @ 86.77 mph 1/4 : 12.32 @ 98.14 mph 0-100km/h (0-62mph) : 3.80 seconds (Dragy GPS) V3 : Engine upgrade ! From 2Fast 100cc on Minarelli cases to Ottopuntouno CNC cases, 100cc Otto and everything impacted by that decision. I'm not alone, I'm building this with a close friend of mine. Brainstorming gives strange, but awesome ideas ! I also have great support from 2 shops that are near and dear to my heart and with whom I have great relationship : scootertuning.ca and secretimport.tv

Before I jump on V1 of this Jog, here are some other scoots I built and owned over the years. Sleeper 2Fast 100cc Yamaha Zuma This is the last plated scooter I used on the street. We even brought it to Florida during the cold winter to ride with friends ! Look as stock as possible, with a hot rod motor ! 1/8 mile in 8.66 seconds. Engine was similar to the one in the Jog, but it's not the same. 2Fast 100cc on Zuma cases with custom spacing plate for 47mm stroke PVL ignition, so every light converted to LED 34mm carb Air filter under the seat. The sound of it was soooo nice. Belt driven mechanical waterpump Dual radiator setup Koso RX1N speedometer 220mm front brake disc Windshield and Top case, because why not. It was a blast

Until enough people wrecked it, me included Not going fast or anything, just accelerating hard and it flipped Not proud, but hey... My sister did once with a passager. I did while practicing drag starts (I let the throttle go so the nose could come down, and went back to it too hard, it flipped ). I also let someone drive it at a meeting one day. At least I got a few pictures of the guy and the moment... A repair is never as good as a teardown rebuild, there's always a little something that's out of whack. I ended up parting it out and build the drag Jog. It was fun while it lasted. We did a few nice trips with it. That's a goal I had, fastest engine in a clean stock Zuma, usable daily.

Those are some pretty rad builds! Clean as heck too... the zuma with the windshield and cargo box makes me chuckle.
Looking forward to seeing more of the dragster.

Out of interest I checked the top times from the 2023 Dutch scooter drag racing championships. Schakel = shifter bikes (Aprilia rs50, Yamaha tzr50, Honda mt/mb50, minarelli am6 and derbi 6 speed bikes) Automaten = puch maxi, peugeot 103, 1spd mopeds) fb.watch/mGbKC3rIYW/Not sure how these times compare to what you are running but I think it's fun to see them side by side.

Those are some pretty rad builds! Clean as heck too... the zuma with the windshield and cargo box makes me chuckle. Looking forward to seeing more of the dragster. I take pride in building clean machines and details that don't pop right away, but when you examine everything you realize there is a lot of though behind it. I try to refine that at every project. Here's 2 mores I had and built over the years. The Bws/Prebug have had 3 iterations also. Last one was with real SL Tech front fairing, handlebar wiretuck, Stage6 chrome wheels and fork legs, solo seat, dual Stage6 4 pistons caliper setup, 280mm front brake. It was still rocking the Minarelli vertical crankcase, but with and MXS Racing 70cc engine and exhaust, PVL ignition, MHR Overrange CVT, gears. Reliability becomes a problem with the poor cooling of these vertical engines. Next iteration would have been to swap it Minarelli horizontal and watercooled, but I decided to part it out and buy the blue Bugeye Zuma and begin the 2Fast100cc sleeper project instead. The Derbi GPR Nude was a novelty and I learnt a lot. 50cc 6 speed. Went with and MHR Team 78cc, MHR RHQ crank, PVL ignition, Vforce, VHST 28mm (such a nice carb!). I used it on the street and on karting race track. 2 friends of mine also bought GPRs, they're nice ! The Replica and the Racing(full fairing) have sharper steering due to the clip-on handlebar. I prefer those on the track, but that's my opinion. Out of interest I checked the top times from the 2023 Dutch scooter drag racing championships. Always fun to compare. In Europe they mostly race on 150m. 200m is reaaaally rare. There was a meet called DRT, but I think it's not happening this year... Those times are for 150m (1/8th mile is 660feet / 201meters) so basically 3/4 of an 1/8th mile. Napkin math tells me I would be on the high 5's on 150m. Scooter Special 100 would be the Jog's category. I need more power I'm doing the same with my sr factory will only have holes for air to run through plastics other than pipe will look standard from 20m lol won't sound stock but lol Scooters in general are not known to ride well, but those SR50 have great shocks, brakes. They are confortable and handle beautifully, but lack option for tuning in stock form. It's an awesome choice for that project !

I have always wanted a Derbi GPR or Aprilia RS50 and came very close to getting each a long time ago but never pulled the trigger. Love it. I have had a few scooters and larger motorcycles over the years and for whatever reason, something with a small engine, where you’re extracting the most power has just been fun to me. I recently picked up a 99 Prebug that I’ve started building. For now it has its stock crank but this winter I plan on splitting the cases and going to town. I know there aren’t many options for the verticals but I had my eye on the MXS cylinder. It’s going to be either that or the newer Athena hyper race. If you have any tips or suggestions on the MXS I am all ears. Got a 4 race pipe that will work now with my contesta jug but I’d love to get a roost pipe if I go the mxs or Athena route. Cheers man and looking forward to seeing more.

Cheers man and looking forward to seeing more. Is it the one on your avatar picture ? It looks good. 12mm crank, that's for sure. High end vertical engines are tricky. Because of the way the plastic cylinder cover is made, the air from the fan exits on the right side of the intake/reedblock. Strange design compared to the horizontal engine where the air must flow around the cylinder and then exit completely on the other side. So the vertical engines don't cool very well and doesnt pair well with high rpm setups. Never tested, but maybe block off the stock exit and open one kind of like the horizontal cover ? Roost are all in the upper rpm range, and nothing below. A friend had one on a stroked MXS (44mm crank, so 78cc). I'll look at the dyno sheets ! Yasuni C16 are really good for power and usability If I had to build another prebug, my choice would be the new HyperRace. I did not test it yet, but the booster exhaust and Athena quality have me sold. 1mm thick ring vs 0.8mm on the MXS. But in the end, nothing specially wrong with the MXS. Either way, think of a variable ignition. MVT DD are great for street use. With that kind of exhaust and fixed timing, there is not enough timing down low. There's always a down and it's sluggish. And if you adjust it to have great response at low RPM, then there is too much timing at high RPM and an incoming hole in the piston
