Hey all! I think I'm going to finally do a 70cc kit on my 01 Zuma. Pretty much decided on the Top Performances Black Trophy. A few easy questions for you pros out there... 1- What spark plug should I use for this kit? Stock NGK ok? 2- Stock Dellorto carb ok with an up jet? 3- Oil injection enough lube? I really want to keep it! 4- Do I need to separate the motor/tranny from the frame to pull the cylinder on a vertical?
Other existing mods are a Yasuni ECO pipe, Boyesen reeds, and a Top Performances variator kit with a 750mm Bando belt. Plan on keeping the stock air box.
Thanks!

NGK br8hs is the plug to use when you upgrade to cast iron it is a notch colder plug .
Stock dellorto carb with upjet is ok But a 17.5 Dellorto would feed the beast better.
I run stock oil pumps on all my yamaha zumas and vinos even with builds that pushed 11k rpms and ran them for thousands of miles with no added extra oil besides the stock pump .

Thank you Zino! That's all good to hear. Do you have a main jet starting point? I'm thinking 100 or 105 and raising the needle a notch?

Make sure you run half a (oil)tank of mineral oil to seat the rings during break in. After that switch to a 100% synth oil like Motul 710.
When you decide to switch to a bigger carb, which is like Zino said perfectly acceptable, check the airbox intake size. When it has a pinsize inlet hole, a bigger carb won't be of any use.

I have a brand new gallon of Yamalube I was planning on running. Anything wrong with that? Also, should I plan on breaking the engine loose from the frame for this? I'm sure it will be obvious when I get the plastics off, but I like to plan ahead and have everything I need before I start!

I ran a black trophy on my bug eye & it’s on my vino now. It’s a good kit but I ended up swapping it out for a stage 6 street race & it’s better. I’d recommend it, it’s still a cast iron sport kit but is faster & has more room to grow. You can run it with a street pipe or a decent expansion pipe. I like the dell 17.5mm for being able to keep the oil injection & auto choke. I want simple.

For jetting if you are just changing the kit you may not even have to up the main jet just a slight needle change adding an expansion pipe drives bigger jetting changes
for safety work your way down from 10%-15% higher than now
It should run crappy then work your way down till she runs best . if 2 jets give the same top speed I take the richer one .

If you take out the lower bolt from the rear shock the scoot can squat down and you have better access to the cylinder.

I'm borderline lean with a 93 right now. That ECO pipe I have is the culprit for that I'm sure. That's why I was thinking of starting in the 100 area. I read somewhere that Mikuni VM11/22 jets will work. Any experience with that? I see that they are a couple mm longer. Wonder if that will jack with where the needle hits? What's your opinion on these? www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06XHY4Y9H/ref=ewc_pr_img_1?smid=A2RHFG2W1LQW7X&psc=1

Maybe take out the gas tank if I need more space. This is the oil www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005C5AVSO/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_image?ie=UTF8&th=1

I bought those knock off jets and compared them to genuine mikuni 11/22 jets A 80 knock off is not the same size as the genuine mikuni 80 .
I would buy dellorto jets for the dellorto carb that way when you upgrade the carb you just use the same jets . Just make sure to buy the right size
The pipe is driving your jetting change I would not expect the kit to move it much more .

Hold on, I just realized you have a pre bug with a Minarelli vertical. Then my tip of removing the lower shock bolt doesn't work.

I was wondering why that shock bolt would help much! Lol! So am I going to have room with it in the frame?

The Yamalube S2 looks like any generic run of the mill semi synth oil. Nothing wrong about it but also nothing thats stands out. It will do okay I guess. Personally Id always go with 100% synth oil since those are fully engineered by men. You should take out the gas tank and see how much space it'll give you.
