Belt will no go on! A little history.....I was given a "new" Longbo LB50QT-22 '06) It sat in a guys shop and 0 miles on it. They were just using it for parts.....because back then...Chinese parts were hard to find. Anyway....got it all back together from parts I bought...looks new, runs great...and I just needed a belt.....so he gave me a Gates Kevlar one for it....669-18-30. Changed MANY belts and typically I just squeeze the rear pulley.....wedge the belt in a bit.....then slip it over the front shaft. Talk a bout a "No GO" on this one. It is close...off by only 1/2 inch. But pulley half's will not open at all....Belt still rides high on the rear pulley....Twist n turn don't work....not even a large set of vice grips to pull one side closer to the clutch bell. Anybody ever seen this and have any suggestions?...Clutch sheathe froze up maybe?.... I have never heard of that........help? ..... :bfg:

1FastQMB....10 inch wheels....it just seems the pulley halves...will not pull in.....so...belt rides on top. Ya can't get it to open for it to wedge down in there. Maybe if I run a slightly bigger belt for a min. or two....it will break them loose?......so the proper belt fits?... Everything is fresh and clean....no corrosion visible. Maybe after the years the "Quality Chinese".....has petrified or turned to steal...or gummed up solid?....

Just go get a $30 impact. installing a belt the way you are trying to do it isn't good for the belt. The teeth on the pulley can tear the fibers even on a Kevlar belt and shorten it's life and besides that, if you ran it with no belt on it then the rollers are probably jammed up in there. $30 and you can remove the variator and clutch easily. You'll need a good solid 14mm 1/2 inch drive socket for the clutch pulley. www.harborfreight.com/12-volt-1-2-half-inch-emergency-impact-wrench-92349.html PS: It's easy to spread the rear pulley when it's off the engine. Then with the inner half of the variator and bushing installed you stick the rear pulley on with the belt shoved down inside all at once slipping the belt onto the bushing/crank and then install the outer pulley half onto the crank blah blah blah...

We had a problem like this with my sons Zuma. Dont know if your on about the same thing but the contra spring was binding on the inside of the clutch. you could assemble it fine but when you went to put the belt on there was not enough give to let the belt slide down and go over the front spindle

Right now I love my clip-on master link. I think I'm gonna go out in the garage and hug my bike's chain right now.

Fox....never ran it with the cvt off.....used my impact wrench....to get to just the bare shaft....and once around the rear pulley....it will not even reach the bare shaft...where the variator mounts....and I am still confused what an LB1P39QMB engine is....never seen or heard of one..my other four are 1P39QMB.... :stumped:

squeezing the rear pulley halves is not always easy with a stock spring, with a yellow or red spring its impossible unless you have gorilla strength. I am with fox on this one get an impact or some type of holding tool.
Im not sure aboth the 'LB' I used to think it was Longbo too until I saw a Longbo QT-6 (project yellow fever) with 'BD' on it..i dont know what those signify.

What fox is saying is take the REAR off and squeeze the pulley halves apart...its much easier to do if you have it off. Squeeze them apart and stick the belt down in there so that the belt itself holds them apart, thn put the clutch on the driveshaft and the belt will then be long enough to slide over the crankshaft

1FASTQMB...so remove the rear clutch assembly......gorilla squeezit to get belt on a bit......then carefully reinstall it.... may have to try that in the a.m.....
