There is a conversion tool on the website to convert currency. 177.73 Canadian converts to 166.25 US That's odd that I see $181.28 US. I see why. There is a currency tab at the bottom of the page. You can check Canadian or USD. the amount does not match their converter number! Too funny. ;D

OK I am still not resolved to getting the Bigger bore. Its like this: My carb is not so wonderful. It develops a leak through the bowl bleed tube. I clean it and then after a while the drip starts again. The fuel intake metal tube was pulled out of the carb body when I bought the scooter. I cleaned the carb and used epoxy to reattach it. I have the feeling that if put a big bore on it that I will need to do more. I am still considering simply buying the after market head. infact if I knew that putting a new head on would solve my compression problem there would be no question about it. That is what I would do. But I am concerned that I would replace the head and still have low compression. I geuess if I bought the head and still had low compression, that I could simply buy a new 50cc cylinder. If I did it would still be less ecpensive that the 70cc and I would not be so worried about the carb and airbox supplying enough to the cylinder. It would all be basically stock and should work fine. Also if I ended up buying a 50cc cylinder kit I would then have a grande total of three good pistons and two new sets of rings. I would be covered for a future ring job.
Advice?

You ever try to seal the spark plug with anything like teflon tape or high temp silicone?

Yes I used teflon tape and I did get a noticeable higher rev and acceleration. It lasted for just over half a block. I tried to do it again but could not get the same result. the engine was already hot so I think it melted instantly. A couple of days later I bought high temp. epoxy putty. It did not work. I tested the spark plug area with soapy water and lots of exhaust was blowing by the plug. I am reasonably sure that the head would solve this but not 100% sure. Maybe I had a little leak at the plug and this was only part of the problem.

You really don't seem to care if you have a 70cc kit or not, so for once I'll just vote to stay 50cc and get the head or have yours repaired. Taking yours to a machine shop might be as bad as buying a new head though.

Your right I really don't care about the increased power. Especially if it leads to any further issues. At this point If it runs fine I am not even sure if I will keep it or not. I am kind of toying with the idea of getting a motorcycle license and a 150cc scooter.

I ordered the aftermarket original replacement head. It was only 30 dollars. ˆ figured 30 dollars of investment is not burning any bridges. If I end up needing a new cylinder I have the options of buying the replacement 50cc cylinder of simply getting the whole new BBK. Maybe just the new head will solve the problem to my satisfaction. Will see.

I received the new head in the mail this evening. I will install it Saturday along with giving the carb a cleaning. Then I will be posting on here after that that it has low compression still. Sorry. I have been disappointed too many times on this project.

Arggg! I installed the new head and cleaned the carb. The scooter runs the same. Low speed no pick up. I did a compression test: 92 PSI.

I started getting a really weird feeling. The feeling was that I would buy a new cylinder and still get 92PSI. After all I had replaced the rings, then the piston. Then I trued up the flatness of the head and cylinder top. I measured the cylinder insides as best I could. The weird feeling was about my compression tester. I had tried it on the old lawn mower and registerd a higher reading than on my 2 stroke. ?this did not mean it was accurate but simply it was able to register a reading higher than 92PSI. So even though I had bought this gage only some 4 months ago I decided to get another. With this new tester I got a reading of 150 PSI. So there you have it. I probably did not even need to do a ring job, let alone buy a new piston, let alone a new head. Now obviously there are a whole host of things that can cause me to have low power out put. Time for me to look into other aspects.
This has been very frustrating.

Sorry that you are having this problem, but that's what we were trying to point out earlier. Now, there are 10 pages here, so what exactly were the symptoms again so I don't have to read this whole thread again. Other than feeling weak, does it surge at idle, or anything else fishy?
