I've noticed a depressing trend on YouTube:
Every time I post a video of my beloved BadBoy, I lose many subscribers and get a lot of comments like this:
"Wait, where's your supermoto??" "Why aren't you riding the KLX?" "Why the heck are you on a 50??" "I've been a subscriber for a long time and usually love your videos... But, come on... a 50??" "Boring." "That would have been so much better on the KLX." "Why didn't you take the KLX back there?" "Why are you riding that piece of junk??" "I normally love your stuff, but why did you waste money on that POS?"
And so forth.
It's bothering me enough that I'm going to do a video about it and why I love my fiddy.
What is America's obsession with size, anyway? You know what I mean? I say that if people think that 49cc is "so boring," then they've lost touch with the spirit of riding.
I can't be alone in this...

If you are enjoying yourself then that's what matters... I never cared much for what others think, they aren't in my shoes paying my bills.. So when it comes to play time, I do what makes me happy not them, they can either enjoy it with me or go else where.. Life's just too short to worry about such things..

I'm totally enjoying myself. I'm having a freakin' riot on this thing! And saving a TON of money at the same time. Win/win/win.
And I don't own a television. That's probably part of it. I am so far out of the loop in pop culture and "news" (though I keep up with real news).

You should worry more about the people who enjoy your vids than the ones who don't deserve the attention. Fug'em.

I'm more just baffled by how adamantly people are against 50's. I mean, they get NO love. These people who bash them as boring... I wonder if they've ever ridden one. People used to bash my 250 (when it was a 250), until I let them take it around the block. They ALWAYS came back with a big grin on their face and never said anything negative about the bike again.

Iv'e heard 50's called drunk scoots, and many other derogatory names. To some it's just a perception, to others it's a pride thing I think, My own younger brother ( "Ill never be caught dead on one" ).. yet the first time I walked away to let it warm up he jumped on it and loved riding it around the yard...
The first time I rode a scooter was in the Philippines, everyone there rides them, and it totally changed my opinion of scooters.. So much so that when I returned to the States I had to have one, and ive never been without one since... I don't care what others think and neither should you...
We are all like minded Scooter enthusiast here, so your in with the right bunch that fits you..

Silliness. That greats a cycle of debt and a form of enslavement. Also, discourages contentment and, therefore, happiness. Ironic, since they market things as that they'll supposedly make you happy. Anyway, 50's are a riot. They're about the simple, basic joy of riding itself, without the mixed motives of horsepower or image. My 50 gets 120mpg or better, can take a beating, requires no insurance/registration/taxes, and turns a lot of heads. Add in the giggle factor and you've got an epic ride that's basically free. Cheap parts, low maintenance, no taxes/registration, ridiculous gas mileage, so flickable and lightweight... The list goes on and on. Using this thing to commute and saving my other bike for more pleasure riding/track riding/long trips is saving me a ton of money on gas and maintenance/wear and tear. I knew you guys and gals would understand.

pop culture says you have to ride the crotch rocket or a harley to be accepted though. True inner happiness is a lonely road when the TV is calling the shots.

Well, the BadBoy is getting hated on for not being big/fast enough, so I can now officially say it's a scooter. lol to the club. The BS is even worse if you're a guy. There are even t-shirts and stickers out there saying "I traded in a man card for this, but it was totally worth it!". Why? Why am I less of a man for riding a scooter? When I first started riding around here I was pretty much alone, at least now I see some scoots here and there. Back then the kids that thought they were cool would yell at scoots, call me a fag or queer. I'm still 2x most of their size and could easily get off and knock their teeth out, but I'm on a scooter so I'm no longer a man and deserve no respect. It's a very good thing I control my temper well or I coulda went to jail every night I took my scooter to town back then. Now it's very few and far between luckily. Anymore I get people laughing while making wheelie gestures and stuff like that. Whatever, I just do a wheelie if I'm on the Venus and the looks on their faces change. Funny thing, some of the same ppl that think I need a bigger bike will ask me for help when something needs repaired. So I'm less of a man cause I'm in the garage while you're watching TV? Gotcha.

Hurray! I'm in the club!
Why must people project their own insecurities onto others? "It's not how big it is; it's how you use it." Seriously. There are way too many American males who seem to feel the need to compensate for something. I know guys that get razzed on for riding a 250. I know I get taken less seriously for not having a "real bike," but I get some slack for "being a woman." However, even I am told that a 250 is not a really bike and I would be "so much hotter" on a "real bike." *eyeroll* Right; cuz the kind of guy that says/thinks that is exactly the sort of guy I want to "look hotter" for. (Obvious sarcasm is obvious.)
Displacement seems to mean everything in this country, sadly.
