Hello,

Im new here to the forum and im working on a Velocity Scooter 150cc. It is a friend of mine's scooter. He said it would not start. He bought it second hand and you can tell it has had one heck of a rough life. Its been laid down several times with everything busted almost. The PO has put a toggle switch on it to get it started.

I started my inspection on it. Found the neck/intake tube running to the motor to have a nice big crack in it. The vent tube was missing, and the coil was bad, rpm isnt working. I took the carb off and since i had it off decided to rebuild it. Rebuilt the carb fixed the intake neck and installed a new coil. It would start up and run after you tinkered with it for about 10 mins. I tried testing the electric choke but i cant tell if its working or not. (this thing is so pieced together its not funny). Well after getting everything back to together and getting it running last night this morning it would not start. He tried for 30 mins to get it running and couldn't.

He brought it back to me this afternoon and after getting it running it would shoot a little blue smoke out the vent tube. I tried to adjust the A/F screw and the idle adjustment a little but it would just not stay running. We would have to hold it to about half to 3/4 throttle for around 15 to 30 seconds in order to get it running.

Im out of ideas at this point. Any help would be greatly appreciated because this is the only mode of transportation he has besides his mom, and friends...

I had read anywhere from 100 to 125?? Is this right?

I'd hope to see something more like 125-175psi.

OUCH!!! Just done a compression test. cold it was at 55 warm it was close to 67. The valves have never been adjusted on this scooter. What would you guys suggest as the next step? Adjust valves see if it helps?? Head gasket?? What would be the best process of elimination?

I'd say try the valves and then move on to disassembly of the top end and inspection.

I know from working on lawnmowers and tillers that it rules out the rings.

Where does the rpm gauge go on the motor so i can tell what rpm its running at?

an entire top end job or part it out IMO.

Ok i just checked the valves for shits and giggles.. I cannot fit ANY of my gauges in there. The smallest my gauge goes is .0015 and i cant even get the tip under the rocker arm end on the exhaust or the intake! The cam it at TDC and i can tell someone has been in there. Everything has gooped red silicone. What should the valves be set at?
