It seems that ditching the stock carb for a quality carb is the easiest and maybe best way to go. Look around the link below. The 4T area is all about these engines. There are other things spread through the other areas pertaining to them as well. 49ccscoot.proboards.com/board/9/49ccscoot-com-tech-library

I got my new scoot out of the crate finally, so I did a vid detailing the unsealing process. I showed the removal and installation of the carb too. If it seems like removing the fuel hose is missing in the instructions, it's because earlier in the PDI I replaced the vac petcock with manual and replaced the lines and filer and left them off knowing I'd be doing the carb later.

From what I've seen with mine so far, just aiming it better may help. You should be able to get a 45W bulb as well (stock is 35W I believe). www.mfgsupply.com/01-6245b.html

hello guys. i'm new to scooters, forums and america heh:D. i just bought a taotao 50atm (from scootermadness.com) thought is a good price and snatched it. it will arrive somewhere on friday or next week. did a lot of research and stopped to your forum thinking that i may get my wanted help from you:). i dont know if mine will be the secret 63 and as i'm not good with scooters i dont think i want to take it apart either. after all my reading i stoped and thought about it and bought: castrol 10w40 for engine, superS 80w90 for transmision and an nkg sparkplug(c7hsa i think its the part number). i want to change this before even starting it as i heard that the oil it comes with is very bad. but on the other hand you guys say that i should change to 10w40 after 500 miles or smth like that. now i'm confused. the other thing i saw is carbs and gas lines.. i will use this scooter for like 20-30 miles a day with 10-15 miles every trip without stopping(maybe more and i'm afraid of overheating) and i dont want to have problems with it, but i'm trying to keep it as stock as possible because money is very short. this is my first scooter and i would appreciate your help and guidance:). your romanian friend from america salutes and thanks you.

forgot to mention that i want to use the premium gas. is that ok? i really want to keep it stock and working good by doing repairs and maintance when i have to , not when it doesn't work no more.

I think the days of the secret big bores are about done. More likely to get a sealed carb than a 60-70cc. 10W40 is fine from the start, just don't use synthetic for 500 miles or so. Stick with standard mineral based oil for break-in. I suggest changing frequently at first to get metal particles out and/or use magnetic drain plugs (made by Prima, sold by Enviromoto and others). That gear oil is fine. CR7HSA for the plug. The stock carb is likely sealed. The video showing what that means and how to deal with it is above in this thread or you can check it out in the playlist linked below. The playlist covers all kinds of issues for prepping a new scoot, including fuel lines. www.youtube.com/watch?v=0VkNHOAOyK8&list=PLm3-Rt5jsolvEQcIl1CMZGW5Yj_kP4Wjc&feature=mh_lolzNot sure it's necessary for the stock engine, but premium fuel is OK. and good luck with your new scoot!

That plug is fine. The R is a resistor plug so it may be better if you'll be using any kind of electronics onboard to avoid interference.
