With the stock exhaust, there isn't a big change with the port work to the big bore kit. It feels a little weaker at low revs, but is a little more willing to rev. I'm just using the Hoca setup, so not seeing over rev, but now it likes 6g better than the 6.5g it liked without porting to get the revs up faster and keep them a little higher for cruising. I'm using 1000RPM clutch springs now as well. Not really necessary to get moving, but I left them in after the MRP test last time and I see the belt is not really moving when they engage, so I left them.
Still using the same carb tune as before with the big bore.
I didn't do a 0-35MPH or a vid. Using lighter weights you probably wouldn't notice a difference in this and out of the box with the stock pipe unless you watch the tach.
I think the good news is that it didn't kill performance. The bad news is there's no real point in doing this if you're gonna use a stock exhaust. Since it did pick up the revs, I hope the aftermarket pipes will do even better than before.

I put the SP3 on and went up to a 90 main. Same jet for stock pipe, maybe it'll be the same jet for the performance pipes. I wasn't expecting it to spin the tire out of the driveway (stone) and it got a little sideways. Just as I was thinking, "this thing is a beast", it started sputtering and fell on it's face. Turned around and it took off hard again and then sputtered. Sputtered isn't really the right word. Sorta sputters, but the power is going in and out. Does it on the center stand too if I hold it open. Pulled the snorkel out and it's way worse, so it seems I'll need to upjet. I think this extra transfer duration might pay off?
Normally I don't update while I tune, but I gotta get some stuff done so I prob won't get to mess with it again till tomorrow.

Hopefully it will run well all the way to max RPM power with the right main. Sounds like the takeoff is good!

I think I've got something going wrong somewhere. I did mess with it a little last night. Went to a larger jet and then it flooded and struggled to rev. So it goes from acting lean and going in and out to flooding on the next size. My first thought was reeds, but they looked fine. I'm gonna clean the carb today and make sure the enricher is working. If I can't get anywhere after that, I guess I'll look for an air leak. All previous setups I could use at least a couple different jets with good results. It hasn't been very picky.

Now it's sputtering and showing little signs of having power. Cleaned carb, checked enricher, changed jets, changed carbs, cleaned airbox/filter, checked for air leaks, checked reeds, looked over cylinder/piston, checked air gap, changed plug, checked some connections. I'll be checking more ign stuff next time.

Aha! Replaced the CDI and it runs smooth again. Verified timing is still the same.

I must have missed it somewhere but as I just picked up a scoot for a song that I'm rebuilding, and since my goals are very similar to yours (including naked style) I'd love to ask about your headlight assembly. I haven't seen details of it, only the tails. I may have missed an earlier thread however.
Thanks, and appreciate the site. I'm learning a lot!

I'm having another one of those days. There's a horse riding event on the left of my house and a church BBQ to the right, so lots of people driving weird. Started off coming out of town toward my house and some guy that was driving 30MPH in a 50MPH zone decided to pull into the shoulder, that I was in, to let traffic pass. Braked hard and all was fine. Then 1/4 mile later the truck ahead of me turns into my driveway and sat waiting to turn around for the BBQ so I had to cross the ditch to get into my yard and avoid sitting in traffic waiting for him to move. 30 minutes later, I went for another quick test run. I made it about 1 mile and it started to rain, so I turned around. I came back around a sharp turn at speed and there's a car doing 5MPH. Brake hard. He pulled over and let me pass after I about put my front tire in his trunk. He was playing with his dog while driving. Then I turn right for the 1/2 mile stretch home and once I get to 45MPH a bird flies up out of the grass and into me. Didn't really hurt, which surprised me. Of course for all of this I had the cam backwards to see the pipe. It did catch the bird being deflected back into the grass. So yeah, glad it's raining so someone or something doesn't kill me today. It seems now every Saturday that I try to ride I have strange stuff happen. Last Sat was a breakdown, being yelled at, and almost getting hit in the truck and all of those were within an hour or less too.

I did the headlights long ago when I first stripped the scooter naked, so the details aren't in this thread. You can see the before and after here... 49ccscoot.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=builds&action=display&thread=436&page=1The headlights are driving lights from Pep Boys for $20/pair. They use 55W H3 bulbs so replacements are easy to get. They're excellent lights for a scoot. I use one as high and one as low beam, and that also lets me have a spare to switch to should one blow on the road. They cast a wide beam. I made the bracket to hold the lights and the turn signals from square steel tubing.

Awesome! Never had any issues with the power draw of those 55w bulbs? Read horror stories about Chinese scooters electrical when it comes to wiring.

No. I use a 60W in another scoot. You can't turn both on at the same time without them being really dim, but otherwise they're fine.

The Leo Vince SP3 did much better after the cylinder adjustments. Quicker acceleration, more revs, faster cruising, and faster max speeds. I saw 54MPH sitting up on a test ride, but that was with a stiff tailwind with a storm blowing in. If all the pipes pick up this much, it should be fun.
