Nice to see how that tool is supposed to work. lol I have that tool, but the Chinese cases are different, so I have to rest one side of it up against the frame. At least it still works.

I just found out how to use this Y-shaped thing to remove the variator... you ahve to use it on the flywheel side and hope it doesn't fall off when you're on the other side working on the variator nut... PITA
Also, the Buzzetti tool doesn't work on all scooters, your case holes have to miraculously line up, and then you'd have to have a case that has high walls or find some long bolts to hold it down and hope you don't damage the case bolt holes... useless as well.
The engine side of my case is almost completely flat, no "walls." The cover has high "walls." The Buzzetti tool holes (if they lined up) would be about 2+ inches above the bolt holes. Bracing it against the axle won't work, not enough pressure to prevent the castle nut from just prying it away.

Sorry to change subject here, but to keep the peace we try not to refer to any make scooter as "crap". My Baron is crap. But my Roadrunner isn't. I can't blame China for that, just the facory and importer at the time.
On subject, I think that tool would be great for on the road. I don't believe it's compatable with the 150cc? I do use the 12volt impact though, it won't fit in my tool bag. I'de pack it for long rides.

Looks like it might work. I'm not sure what the size is of the holes on the 150 variator. The one I linked to is 5mm and 9mm. That is only 8mm and then the rectangular side.

I shall take the plunge and give it a shot. Good to have the basic tools for emergency use handy.I love my 12v impact, but too large to take everywhere. I have an excuse to try it out already when I change the variator fan thingy when it warms up around here. Since I have no strenghth in my shoulder it will really test how handy it is.

I couldn't do that with the tool, the castle's teeth weren't deep enough to hold onto the tool without the tool sliding off. If I could find a castle with higher/ more well definied edge, perhaps it would work then, but for now, I'll just deal with removing the fan cover and fan, and using the Y-tool thing to lock the rotor
