Dang, I have some very heavy duty speaker tripods laying around unused. Could have brought them with me on the trip to John's. I will look into shipping costs for them. Thank you, but don't worry about it Scott. I'm hoping the tuning difference won't be extensive and maybe I can get away with leaving the stuff sitting in one spot. Even with a pro tripod, I think it would be way hard to get anything in the same position twice with much accuracy.

I thought I should get build threads for my Tritons started in here so I can make updates in the future. Let me start by getting this thread up to speed with a little history... Motomech from ScootDawg pointed out a Vento Triton to me on eBay. It was listed with a damaged engine and in kinda rough shape. I bid and won it for $62.09 and picked it up in a truck to avoid shipping charges. Here's what it looked like when I got it home. I started working on it almost immediately. It needed a lot of parts and work. I removed the oil injection junk and went to check the motor out. I discovered that not only is the engine mostly in working order, but I had found a 90cc Mexican version of the Triton. The exhaust studs were ripped out of the cylinder though. I replaced the stock cylinder with another 52mm cylinder. Once the fuel system was installed it ran. I modded the stock exhaust, modded the cooling fan housing, repaired/replaced all the broken parts, ditched the alarm, removed the fender and relocated the turn signals, installed Michelin Pilot Sport tires, and some other things and it was ready to ride. Of course I couldn't just leave it at that. I made a reed spacer, ported the stock intake, milled the cylinder, added an MRP tuned pipe, aftermarket coil, 4g rollers, lightened clutch with 2000RPM springs, 1000RPM torque spring, and vented the CVT cover a little. I added an Arreche 19mm carb and high compression squish band head not long after that video. The mods kept flowing. I later moved up to a 54mm cylinder, DellOrto 25mm carburetor, Malossi reeds, and Polini intake. Here's a quick video just after installing the carburetor with it still out of tune. I added a Leo Vince ZX 100cc pipe. Next I decided to take on some minor frame mods. I made a frame brace and modified the stock engine mount to be solid, then welded the solid mount into the frame for overkill. I used the stock handlebars to do a cheap MX style conversion while adding an aluminum throttle assembly. I replaced the stock tail/brake light with an LED assembly and added LED front turn signals and and aftermarket rear view mirror, and then tinted the turn signals. Auto Meter fuel level gauge. Combustion chamber enlarged to 11.2cc to relieve detonation. Performance variator. Clutch cooling vents. Added a Sigma bicycle speedometer. After modifying an engine mount to be solid, and rattling most of my plastics to death as well as snapping the engine mount eventually, I made a few changes in T2's layout. Homemade boost bottle. De-restricted my Leo Vince pipe. Modded the exhaust port slightly. Stage 6 clutch bell and MRP clutch. Filed the variator for more belt travel. Modded the torque driver for more belt travel. After a crash that bent the handlebars (amongst other things) I added a TNT bar adapter and TNT downhill bars. That's where it stands as of now. Waiting on snow to clear out so I can start riding again. Wow these are incredibly similar to the yamati rx8s. Do you have any idea where to find a brake light lens, and a front mud guard?

PartsForChineseScooters is a good source for some stuff. partsforchinesescooters.com/1/GMI-107_Body_panel.htmlI may have a black one in a shed. Not sure ATM. I don't do much with body panels because I guess I'm bad at shipping them and the shipping seems to cost about the same as buying new. I can check how bad it would be if you wanna PM an address or if you're close you can come get it. Well, you could come get it from far away if you wanted, but it wouldn't make a lot of sense. EDIT : I just saw in another post that you are looking for a rear fender. If that's what you meant here, then I don't have a spare of that.

I didnt mean the fender I think I can probably find one of those. The mud guard for the front above the wheel would really be helpful if you had one you could ship. Price isnt an object here I'm just trying to restore the look of the scooter. And there arent any online to compare prices to anyway lol

Finish line camera. Used wire to keep the tower section sturdy. I'll toss some weight on the base when it's setup and I think it will be OK.

It took me basically all day to do a 30 minute exhaust install (video stuff), but it is a pretty pipe. It actually installs very well. Everything aligned nicely so there's no tension on the pipe. Haven't even fired it up yet. I guess I'll upjet maybe 5% or something just to be on the safe side before I ever try to ride it. Tomorrow is supposed to be over 70 degrees, but I think the weather guy said 20-30MPH winds so I doubt I'll do much with it.

I worked with it a little today. Swapped to a 110 main jet from the 105 that has been in there and otherwise left it alone. That was too rich. It would hesitate and then sounded and felt fat. Breaking up. If I held the throttle open for long it would get worse. Went back to a 105. Not bad. Close enough to leave it there. It was revving 10,000-11,000RPM WOT. I noticed that if it dropped below 10,000, the power fell off. I swapped from 8g to 7g sliders. That picked it up to about 11,500RPM WOT and made it more snappy. I think I need to try even lighter weights, but 7g are the lightest 19x15 sliders that I have. I actually use the 7g, so I didn't want to mod them and decided to call it off for the day. I ordered 4g and 5g sliders from PFS via Priority Mail so hopefully they'll show up early or at least mid week and I can get back at it. It's just as well. It was windy today so I'd be better off tuning another time. Here are my impressions so far. It's kinda loud. Sounds good though, aside from the fact that I think it gets old quick. It would be loud for multi-hour rides. I'll probably do an actual dB test at some point while I wait for weights, but my perception is that it's loud. I've seen in the past that exhausts aimed this way seem louder to me than rear exit, so it could be that. The Peace Pipe isn't all that peaceful either, it just shoots out the back. At this point, I haven't felt any great deal of power increase vs the Peace Pipe. Cruise speed seems about the same. Acceleration does have a more abrupt feel. I don't know if it actually is and I'm not going to bother putting the timer against anything that I did today because I'm sure it's swayed too much by wind. What I believe is happening at this point is that this pipe is designed for a very strong hit. The Peace Pipe hits hard, but not quite like this... or maybe it's just that this thing doesn't hit till about 10,000RPM and the Peace Pipe will hit more like 8,000RPM. It does make it feel nastier than the Peace Pipe. Right now I wait a sec and then it hits hard, vs the Peace Pipe setup that hits when I expect it (as soon as I grab the throttle). Still, it did act like it wanted to pick the wheel up (at least got light) with me going about 20MPH at one point and sitting normal on the seat. I'm not thinking this is going to be the monster that so many claim. Maybe I'll get RPM up and it will have a lot more, but that will surprise me. My current mood is terribly disappointed that I don't have tons more HP, while also very proud of the Peace Pipe. Regardless of what performance output this ultimately has, I think the setup with the Peace Pipe will most likely be the one that is easier to ride on the street. Now I know why John had this mischievous grin on his face when we met and he said something like "so I see you got yourself a fancy pipe". lol Regardless, I'm sure I need a 40mm carb and a pod filter to unlock it. Oh, and the pretty pipe is all brown now. 9 and a half miles via 3 test passes. I wiped it down with WD-40 before I came in anyway. I don't know anything about caring for fancy pipes. I just paint everything black.

So your saying John knows how to make a badass stock pipe... we all knew that. I hope you get your money worth out of it at least. More tuning headaches. I hated that the Malossi pipes discolored so quick, stay out of the salt water.

We should run a poll for winners for top speed and acceleration 0-30 mph and 0-50 mph peace pipe vs mhr And then have Brent give us the results
The lower range pipes I always find appealing easier to set the trans better for stoplight to stoplight riding Acceleration is way up over stock .
For wide open running at top speed The racier pipes are fun but for low speed riding The on /off switch for take off can be annoying and wake the neighbors early in the morning when I Scream By.

I don't think the Peace Pipe is gonna win this one. It's just not gonna be the blowout that the rest of the internet predicts. I just did a dB check (haven't checked video to know what's louder) and then decided to finally put Ride-On in the tires. I've had the stuff on the shelf for so long and meant to do it to get rid of some vibes (don't want to put wheel weights on). Took it down the road with the weather back to normal, about 50-55 today and normally vs 70-75 yesterday and less humid now. Suddenly it revs 500RPM higher, about 12,000RPM WOT acceleration now. Not way better, but it's definitely better. 65.5MPH sitting up heading toward town before I let off for the town speed limit. 63MPH coming back with a car slowing me down. It's windy again, but I shouldn't be with the wind both ways. I kinda figured going from drowning rich to good enough with 1 jet change likely left me rich, but I've always tried not to push it leaning it out. Went by a gas station in town doing ~25MPH at around 8000-8500RPM. Some guy was standing by the Sheriff's SUV (with the Sheriff's deputy in it) and turned around, raising his shades to stare at me. WOT for a sec and I think everyone at the gas station looked. lol I don't think it's all in my head that it's louder, but of course it's also about 1,500RPM more than usual and T2 is weird anyway so who knows.

Still waiting on sliders. I ordered them from PFS late Fri, just after I knew I'd need them, hoping they'd ship Sat. Shipped at the end of day Mon, so estimated for Thur... which will be late in the day most likely so effectively Fri. Friday is supposed to be about 80, before dropping 20 degrees again Sat, so I may try to make sure the jetting is close enough when it's cooler the next couple of days instead of waiting to do it all at once. I meant to order lighter weights when I got the pipe, but ScooterTuning doesn't carry DrPulley and apparently I totally forgot after I placed that order.
I've been working on the filming stuff. Ended up getting a new tripod that's way more sturdy, so maybe that will help. I looked into ways to remotely operate the cameras. No luck. I could get a remote for my old camcorder, but the other 2 can't turn a cam on and off and I'm not sure that battery life is adequate for letting them run the whole time. I have spare batteries, but that requires removing the cams from the tripods. Plus my phone is too old to even get the apps to do that stuff anyway. I've drove around for 4-5 hours checking out spots. A friend recommended one spot in a strip mall that's been closed for years about an hour away. I went up there and it's perfect... aside from the fact that they chain it off aside from when some guy in a truck is there at some "private venue" from what I can tell, have signs, and video surveillance. Don't think it's worth ending up with a criminal trespassing charge for a place that very clearly doesn't want anyone there. The same friend could get me written permission to 2 different parking lots, but both are about 200-250ft long at best and I would like to go more than 100-150ft before I stop. One spot that I used to use in a business park now has 3 businesses on a once baron cul-de-sac. Pretty much down to one spot that may work. A dead end road that goes past a big plant, but the road turns and with vegetation the guard in the booth out there can't see the area I'd be in. Also right beside a highway. Good news is that it should have very low traffic (hopefully 0) and there happen to be two "landmarks" that are ~330ft apart to make it quick for me to setup start and finish points for a 1/16 mile "track".
I'm doing my part in social distancing and hoping every person and vehicle stays at least an 1/8 mile away from me during that time so I can at least attempt this.

It was about 55 outside so I re-tested with the 105 main jet. Then a 102 and 100. RPM didn't change much between the 3. The 100 and 102 both ran better holding it WOT. I was up to basically 69MPH with a bit of a tail wind, sitting up on quick test passes. RPM was 12,200-12,300 then. Still pulling from 11,000-12,000WOT.
I decided to stick with the 100. Normally I'd go with the larger of the 2, but the 100 did show an improvement in responsiveness. At this point, when I tried to get moving down my driveway I was slipping the rear in the stones being easy on the throttle when the pipe started to work. When I did an acceleration run, it felt very strong launching with the 100 main jet.
I thought that maybe I needed to lean the needle out to help it hit easier and harder still, but I think I heard a little knock after trying to cruise part throttle at 45 or so just briefly. I went back to more throttle at the hint of knocking though.
I like to stay as rich as I can, but it felt strong enough that I'm leaving the 100 in vs the 102. I'm guessing that the knock is likely going to happen unless I back out the timing some or fatten up the needle, both of which are likely to make it harder to get it to hit. Maybe I'll get lucky and it will like lighter rollers that change the load as well and it won't be an issue. Prob not. I think it may be the true hyper race characteristics and compromise showing up.
Right now, I think this thing is aggressive and racy and will make the most power. I think it will also be way more of a pain to actually ride. Something more along the lines of the Peace Pipe is likely the much simpler way to go for regular riding and ease of tuning (or maybe C16? [feel free to help me out here, I'm not an aftermarket pipe connoisseur] for those not fortunate enough to own the rare treasure that is the Peace Pipe).
