Hey guys,
So here recently I have been experiencing a weird issue with my taotao. When I start it up, it starts fine (the first time) but when I drive down the street it will slow down even with my throttle open it just slows down and most of the time dies and then I have to start it again, which it will start back up after a few attempts.
I usually have to do this 3-4 before it starts running without dieing. When I leave work I have to let it run for at least 20 mins to keep it from dieing on the way home and thats not including all the attempts to keep it running. it takes me a minimum of 30 minutes of trying to keep it runnign before it will stay idle and not stall out at lights...any ideas what might be wrong?...
sometimes I get a rich smell after it dies and it seems to be going through more gas that usual.

Look for the easy things first, drain tube screw comeing loose? disconnected air hose?

this might sound dumb but the drain tube, is that the hose coming off the carb thats attached to nothing lol and all the hoses are connected i did check those....lol

Drain hose is the one on the bowl that just aims at the ground. If it's loose fuel will drain out all of the time. I wouldn't expect it to start fine then die if that's the cause, unless you have a manual petcock perhaps.
Might wanna check float height and operation.

have you adjusted your valves lately, also make sure non of your hoses are getting pinched

I have not adjusted any valves lately...today on my way to work it was having same issues only difference is that it wouldnt go over 30....it felt like it was being restricted...kinda like a tugging or something, when i'd let off the gas it would slow way down like i was holding the brake but i wasnt and i checked the brakes to see if they were touching the tires and they were not....i have the weekend off so i am going to go through it and take a real good long look at everything and see if i can firgure this out...lol

well after looking and working all weekend i have came to the conclusion that i'm a bit slow...lol...i did find a hose going from the silver round thing to the intake manifold was cracked, i fixed that. The issue with the sluggishness was cuz i put to much oil in it...lol...I went to check the oil and when I took the dipstick out a bunch of oil shot out liek it was a severed artery...so i dumped some out and it runs alot better now...it have the issue with it stalling if it snot warmed up but i can live with that...lol

well is what happened is i checked my oil at work the night before i posted this and it said it was low...then that next morning I put about half a qt. in it and re-checked it..it said it was a little bit above full...I was like ok it will do, well then on that trip to work it was acting real wierd (what I posted originally). Saturday I was putting gas in it after adjustign the idle and throttle a bit and i decided to check the oil again and thats when I removed the dipstick and oil shot out..I duno if when I checked it the first time if the scooter wasnt level or what but it showed it was low....as far as filling the crank case with gas...to be honest im not sure what that even means...lol...

ok thanks i learned something today...lol...I am not having the same exact issues as that thread as my scooter will start everytime altho I have to throttle it to get it it start and usually i have to open the throttle all the way and it will start but it sounds close to what i am dealing with so i will definitely check it out...I did replace a broken vac line from that fuel valve..and i need an oil change any way so once it stops rainign i will look into it...it could explain the rich smell i get when starting it sometimes...

well it officailly wont start now..lol...last night i rode it to the store and it died 3 times there and 3 times coming back and wouldnt go over 25mph. i tried startign it this morning and it would just crank but not turn over...i got a real rich smell so i guess when i get home im gonna look at the carb maybe somethings wrong there....

ok so i 've taken it apart and i took out the spark plug which im going to replacecuz its the stock plug but could this be part of the problem..not sur eif you can see it well but it is charred and flaking at the end, i can stratch it and it chips a little bit.
