Hello, I have a 49cc Ice Bear Mojo trike. CVK standard 18mm carb. I have been slowly losing performance and the other day It broke down. Gas is literally pouring out of my over flow from the float bowl for at least 2 minutes after trying to start it, and flowing heavy!... And even worse, it's flowing out of my Air filter. I removed the carb and checked the the float and it moves fine. Its not even 2k miles on bike yet. And if it was the pit cock, wouldn't it flow non stop and not just for 2 minutes? I just don't get it. I also never get over 25 MPH and its a dog! I put on a new muffler and performance improved for a little while then got worse. I'm gonna get killed riding this thing! But I can't do that til' it runs lol! So please help, how do I fix my carb and get this thing faster without a super rich burning big bore kit? I don't want to blow my engine and burn plugs, I just want to get another 10 MPH Like what weight rollers, new carb size? already checked for re-stricter washer in variator but it never came with one. Please help! Before I catch on fire, lol! Thank you

Not sure if you can get much faster with all that weight without a bbk roller or springs imo wont change your speed much maybe a aftermarket variater and some slider will help but not sure if you will see 10mph also they are chain drive from the output shaft dont know if you can change that and gain some speed or not

If it's got a vacuum petcock it will only let fuel pass by when vacuum is applied by cranking the engine or running the engine. If you have a manual petcock or none at all it would allow fuel to pass all the time (when switched on if manual) and never stop overflowing most likely.
I don't think the petcock is the issue. In proper working order, your carb should be fine with fuel constantly turned on. The float, needle, and seat should all prevent an excess of fuel from entering the carb in any reasonable conditions.
I think you need to seriously inspect that carb or replace it. Something has to be wrong with the float setting or the needle and seat aren't sealing or in more rare cases the float can be damaged and collect fuel instead of floating.
Figure the carburetor out before you worry about anything else. Even when you didn't have fuel running out, there's a possibility that it was malfunctioning enough to cause a rich condition.

I was thinking of just replacing the entire carb for another stock 18mm to save time and hassle. I think I can get another CVK for around 50 bucks. Would I be ok to go ahead and get maybe a 20mm or 23mm carb without a big borekit? I'm shooting for the ever elusive 14:1 air/gas ratio for optimum performance. Thanks

I don't think you'll see much (if any) benefit with a larger carb at this point and if the new carb does not have an accelerator pump you may find much worse throttle response. You don't need a larger carb to change air/fuel ratio. That's a measure of the volume of air vs volume of fuel and simply changing jet sizes and needle positions will alter a/f ratio.

Now that you mention it, I don't even think I have an accelerator pump now as it is.
So what jets would you recommend for an 18 mm?
Also I have been considering just removing the trike assembly altogether and installing a single back wheel and re linking the chain to drop that weight for more speed and acceleration. What do you think?

I thought most of the stock 50s had accelerator pumps. It's just a little lever that the throttle activates and it squirts a small shot of fuel in to help out when you open the throttle quickly.
I believe most end up around 80-85 main jet in a stock carb, stock airbox, etc... Pilot will prob be fine, should be somewhere around 35.
I don't really know anything about the trikes. I was just asking in your intro thread what you think of the handling. I don't know how much there really is to gain by doing the swap. I have a feeling that if your only motivation is speed and acceleration, you'll be disappointed in the money spent converting it. You'll at least need a wheel and tire and perhaps brakes, dunno how they're setup. I'd assume you won't feel a whole lot. A big bore kit would be money much better spend for performance gains IMO. Now if you don't like the trike itself and wanna lean into turns, then maybe the swap is worth doing.

I will look for that pump. Oh and I love my trike but!.. you have to lean even more on these things lol! Don't forget that 3 wheel ATVs were outlawed from flipping. When I'm going into a downhill turn, that's when it is the most dangerous. I've had 1 wheel off on flat level turns before lol! But cruising on a trike is hands down the best. You never even have to put your feet down If you get a 250cc or 300cc you will love it and IceBear makes some sweet looking big Trikes. Even my Mojo comes in a mean 150cc Thanks for the help man

Thanks for that link To check I will have to take it off but I'm going to have to remove the carb again anyway. Any good tips on testing and setting my floats?

49ccscoot.proboards.com/thread/1651/float-infoIf the float looks OK and set OK, then I would hold the float up so it would be closing off fuel and get some sort of liquid into the fuel inlet (where the fuel line hooks up) and see if it is sealing off or if it lets the liquid pass by. If it's not sealing with the needle closing off the passage something's wrong with the needle or seat most likely.

Finally, a 49cc I don't outweigh! Now I know I need a trike.
