i can easily hit 40mph & 45 as well with a long enough road , takes a min to wind up from 40 to 45, hmmmmmmm? SUGGESTIONS? This is normal. Takes more power to accelerate at higher speeds. If you tuck down to reduce drag you may find even more than the 45MPH top speed. Sitting up WOT is the practical top speed. Tucked down is just bragging rights or escaping thunderstorms. lol i got a pretty Carmel colored plug with just a tad bit of black on the metal thread area Caramel for a 4T is prob on the rich side. If it runs well though, rich is the safe way to tune. If you get the bug to find all the speed in the setup, you may try the next main jet size down and see how it does vs the current jet on a WOT run.

YEAH I MAY TRY THAT in a week or so LOL i need a break all i see is parts n screws n carbs......I may try the next one down be what a #80? I have the air/fuel mix just a tad rich & the needle clip is on the highest/top notch (lean i think that would be?) ....all the other ways & it bogs at some point during acceleration. Now its set so it acts very smoothly in all points of acceleration It has increased the fun a weee bit LOL what should a 4t plug ideal color be?
I put 87miles(not khm) on her today , Jeremy suggested 50 before 1st oil change I just wanted it closer to a hundred lol. I will do oil change in morning & change the gear oil as well. Oh & i also am running my stiock air box with only a mesh element not the regular filter & i took out the lil restrictive peace of plastic on the snorkel intake that was inside the airbox. I have a nylon stocking cut & in place at the snorkel intake (inside airbox) to catch any large debris.

I'd expect light tan perhaps. I didn't realize you had so many miles. A quick run of one that's in tune will often still show white.
What I'd do is use a set distance, like say 1/2 mile from your driveway where you find some sort of landmark. Go WOT the whole way with the current jet. Do the same on return. Put in the next size smaller and do the same thing. Compare results. If you don't get any faster, stick with the current jet. If you do end up with a smaller jet, you may need to richen the needle.
I'm really surprised to hear an 85 seems to be either good or on the rich side when you have no filter element and the piece removed from the airbox.

kool i will try that in few days after my twisted knee heals to see results. so light tan, & a black color is rich & white is lean, correct yeah i twisted my knee yesterday evening so i may be down for a few days just to b safe I did do plug chops to start while i was tunning & before pulling all those miles on country roads but I thought for some reason the brown/carmel color was ideal

Correct. 2Ts tend to go toward caramel/chocolate. You've prob heard that a lot around here.

odd thing happened today......
the nut holding on the varriator just decided it wanted to pop off.....Ummmm i thought it was suppose to be hard to get those things off lol.
I was just crossing thru an intercession & heard a aweful sound & stoped & checked the nut had came off & the kick starter gear had came off.....put everything bac together on side of the road & fired it back up n rode it another 20miles round trip to a job interview.....seems fine but i mean what the hell? how that happen?
I had to use the trick with the box end wrench to tighten down the variator nut....but i dont understand how it just popped off??? its got 1006kms on it now but i didnt think they were just suppose to pop off .....dosen't seem striped or anything.
Oh well long as it stay working right i am good lol

They'll work loose if not installed with enough torque. If the belt isn't free when tightening the variator nut it may tighten against the belt instead of the drive boss.

yup yup the belt was free i double checked it & just checked again while taking a secound look to make sure everything is goo maybee the factory used the open end box wrench trick to tighten them as well instead of a impact lol. No damage thank goodness
