Set up a canopy or something... tarp, blanket... anything that keeps you in the shade.

Yeah, one of those quick set canopies would work pretty good. It's usually not that hot though and I have a cellar I can use for the worst days if there's something that needs to be done..... The package with the jets was supposedly destroyed and the contents lost according to UPS, but Rocky Mountain ATV was very cool and sent me out free replacements 2nd day air. Seems like a great company.

The jets came in today and I tried the 90 first. It wouldn't start right away but did after a few tries but died after idling for a couple of minutes. I couldn't get it started after that so I tried the 85. Took a few tries at starting it to get it going but once it started it kept running and started first try every time after that. I took it for a about a 25 mile ride and it seems to be running pretty good. I'll probably do a plug read tomorrow. A couple questions. Any ideas why it wouldn't keep running with the 90 in? Too much fuel? Also, I could not for the life of me get the gasket back in between the two halves of the bowl. How bad is it to leave that out?

You can make one out of the flat side of a plastic oil bottle. You need a gasket there to prevent fuel from sloshing and creeping out.

I still have the old gasket, I just couldn't get it lined up in the grooves to stay on. It's too tight an area to work around and since it sets on the top half of the bowl I had gravity working against me too. Is there a liquid gasket or something that would be easier to set?

If it helps any, the rubber O-ring style gaskets will swell and get bigger with heat and shrink with cold.

Can you tack it in place with liquid gasket so it stays put until it's put together? Just a thought.

I went to put the gasket back in today but couldn't get the bowl off because 2 of the screws are completely stripped. I tried dozens of different screw driver tips to try and get a lucky grab but no luck. If I can't get these out, I'm screwed (pun intended) Does anybody know of an easy method of removing stripped screws? I really don't have any power tools so a method that doesn't involve them would be best.

Needle nose vice grips clamped on to the screw head with the body of the vice grips at a right angle to the screw shank should break them loose. Also wire strippers if they have the grooved jaws on the end or the pliers will work. The jaws on most needle nose pliers aren't grooved right or deeply enough to get a good grip. Then cut a straight slot on the screw head with a hack saw if you can hold the screw without damaging the threads (thread about three nuts on the screw to protect the threads). Better yet, get four new higher quality screws.

Any screws/jets on a carburetor do not need to be tightened to a high degree

Good tips, thanks. I'll try those out tomorrow.......... and if I do get them off I'm definitely getting better screws. I was actually being careful not to strip the screws when I took them in and out, they must be made of something really soft. All other tips are welcome and thanks in advance.

Those screws are notoriously soft.

Got the screws off with vice grips, got the gasket in, and now for some reason gas isn't getting to the bowl. Everything is connected correctly. Any ideas?

Pull the fuel line off of the carb and kick/crank the engine over. If fuel comes out you need to check the float height in the carb. If no fuel comes out you should check the lines and filter for clogs, look for obstructions in the fuel tank, and replace the fuel petcock if none of that gets fuel flowing.
