Hey guys, finally got my her running and tuned where I want it. I plan to mess with the CVT a little later down the road. So far I have installed 100cc BBK (83cc actually), uni air filter, exhaust, KeiHin carb, 95 main jet & stock pilot, performance CDI, ignition, NGK plug and redone the fuel lines with a manual petcock. I'm topping out around 50-53mph flat ground. This has been an amazing experience... sweat, blood and tears and it was all worth it. Now i'm looking into customizing her body, however i'm not too imaginative when it comes to scoots and bikes yet because this is my first so i'm looking for creative ideas and suggestions! Here she was stock with trunk and mudguard removed: Uploaded with ImageShack.usAfter I shaved headlight and mirrors and tucked the cluster till I can get a new one. I tucked it inside the front panel and left it connected to keep track of miles. The speedo was so far off there is no point in even using it. Uploaded with ImageShack.usUploaded with ImageShack.usI'm looking for suggestions for an alternative gauge cluster and possible some cool handlebars/grips and mirrors. Also i'm going to be installing a custom headlight when I find one I like.

That last pic is your turn signal flasher.
Looks good stripped down a little. Look around auto parts stores at fog lights and driving lights. You can get some that are pretty bright and in different shapes and sizes to fit your needs. I use Pilot 55W driving lights on one of my scoots and they are way nicer than any stock light I've had. Mounting is the tricky part. If you could fibreglass one into that front panel it would prob look great. Would take a good bit of work though. Prob wouldn't take much to bolt one on with the stock bracket, but it's not gonna look as cool just stuck on there.
Look at sites like RacingPlanetUSA and ScooterAttack for ideas on the handlebars and risers.
You can get bar end mirrors pretty cheap and I like the view from them better than most stock mirrors.

Thanks for the suggestions, Brent. I went ahead and ordered a few parts this morning such as these bar end mirrors, tach and speedo/fuel gauge i'm going to take your advice and head out to advanced auto and oreilly for some headlight ideas.

If those gauges are for another scoot or bike, I'm not sure they'll work and best case is prob that they work but are only as accurate as your stock gauges.

the tack and speedo were both listed as universal for taotao and other chinese bikes, guess we will find out the end of this week. i hope it all works out. if the speedo is still that far off, i might try replacing the sensor on the front rim.

If it's still off, you'd be better to go aftermarket. Something that you can set the wheel size so you can dial it in as accurate as GPS. Sigma bicycle speedo, Trail Tech, etc...

Your alternator/ignition will power them, unless you plug them directly on the battery. In my area, we're running 2X50W halogen MR16 lights on Zuma's (greenwood hood) and lights are dimming at idle, and burn pretty fast. One at the time, and they are relatively fine. If we use 2X20W bulbs, they don't dim and last. I don't know the alternator power of your scooter, but 55W seems to be good if you run one at a time.

I use 1 55W at a time. One is hi, one is lo. Don't really need a high and low with mine because it covers a lot of area, but it's nice to have a backup anyway. Been using them that way for maybe 4-5 years now. Replaced I think 2 bulbs in that time. If I hit the passing switch that turns both on, they are dim.

had some troubles today... found out my tire was rubbing into my break line and leaking out fluid... good thing i found it before it failed on me... had some troubles getting the bar end mirrors to stay on so i had to jb weld them in.. used a zip tie to hold it over night. the headlights did turn out how i wanted them too... and they weren't bright enough when i took them out on a ride... i didn't take any pictures but i'll try tomorrow, it looks good but they are just too dim and yellow for my taste.

I brought some small sized projectors on eBay, and they surprised me. You find somewhere to make 2X 2inch holes to fit them. The beam is not that wide, but you can see very far with those. Measure your brake line and see which angle your adapters are, I've seen someone on eBay making custom stainless steel lines for cheap ( but I don't remember who )

Your scoot is looking good, how did you wire your headlight? I've been looking into light alternatives. My main thing is deciding how and where to mount Keep up the good work
