I am sort of new to Scooters. Finding this web site was like finding treasure! I found out that Scooters are addictive and a lot of fun. You can't have just 1. In the summer my Scooters are my main transportation (price of gas). My 1st Scooter is a 2006 SunL Passeo LB50QT-3 4t engine. I bought it for $450. It runs really well (120mpg) and is still in good condition. I just bought a Kaliber LS. It had 155km on it (92miles). It is in very good condition (couple scratches). It rides better than my SunL Passeo 50, has bigger tires and is a lot more comfortable. I paid $325 for it! I don't know where the VIN # is. There is thread here to find VIN's , but it is not there! I believe it is a 2002. I bought it at an auction no paperwork came with it. I need to find a downloadable owners manual (preferably free) and info on where the VIN # is. I have a SunL Passeo LB50QT-3 4t that does 45mph (no wind) it will easily do 35mph. I understand that 4t's don't have restricters and 2t's do. The Kaliber does 30mph and no more. Plus the throttle is not very responsive. 2t's should have better throttle response than 4t's. What is involved in taking off the restricters? Keep in mind I am not a mechanic. I am not worried about a warranty so if I find a shop to do it I probably will, but if not too hard I would rather save the money and do it myself. Can I expect 40mph or better? Thank You in advance for any help!

It's gotta be stamped on the frame somewhere. may have to strip it down. Most scoots have a VIN plate riveted somewhere but not always. Looks like a 2 stroke Minarelli 1E40QMB. Plenty of info in the tech section. Not a bad looking scooter. Too bad about the front drum brake. Ask questions and yee shall recieve answers here.

th kalibers are IMO not really that good. they have wiring issues and arent tuned fair from factory. you should do a FULL cvt and carb inspection along with reeds

When I bought the Kaliber LS, it didn't run, so I did have the carb done at a shop. There was oil in the carb. Don't know what caused this, maybe someone has a guess so I can avoid this again. The 2 stroke oil has it's own tank and mixes itself.

The oil gets pumped into the carb throat and mixes with the atomised fuel/air as it passes through the carb throat. I bought a Sundiro 2T scooter that had sat for so long with a full oil tank and the oil had leeched past the oil injector and had filled not only the carb but the entire crankcase and there was even a bunch in the exhaust pipe.

New problem on the Kaliber LS. The battery is new, but the bike doesn't recharge the battery. Is this the regulator? The magneto works - keeps light on, etc., but the battery keeps getting drained. Where to find the part? Have to shop online, no local stores.

If you have a multimeter, you can check for AC voltage out of the yellow and white wires of the stator. If you find that only one has power it's prob the stator. You can also look in manuals for test specs and procedures for testing resistance.
PFS and Scrappy carry stators and rect/reg, or you can find them on eBay.

Update: I stripped off all the plastic and thoroughly checked the frame. There is no VIN# stamped on it anywhere. I'm beginning to think this scooter was imported illegally.
Engine number is: AR03-122293. The 3rd character could be an 'O' (letter) or a "0" (number). It is stamped on the back of the CVT cover on top over the rear of the housing. There is no other engine number.

Some scoots don't have the typical engine code, but I haven't seen one with no VIN.

I fixed another problem on my Kaliber LS. I did the unlit propane torch test on the intake (I learned that from 90GTVert). There was no gasket between the reed block and the intake, there is a gasket between the case and the reed block. This thing was sucking air but not out of the carb! I bought 2 gaskets from Parts For Scooters, 1 for each side of the reed block. I used a little black gasket goop on them and she fires right up. So far the plug does not look lean. I also bought new reeds and put them on. It was almost warm enough to work on my scooter in the garage. I haven't been able to work on them much because of the cold, I had to do some work on my scoots before I go crazy!

1) How hard is it to swap out forks?
2) What do I need to measure?
I want to convert my Kalibur LS to front disc brakes (currently front drum brakes) because I am going to install a Jog90cc longcase engine (I am going to 12" rims).
3) Is the front axle the same length & diameter as a 10" axle?
Thanks, Dan

Another question, are the CVT components (variator & clutch assembly) the same for a Jog90 as for a Minnerelli? With a 90cc engine, I want to check into a dual range (or overrange) variator. I WANT MORE SPEED!

Thanks, Dan Depending on if your triple tree is modifiable. If there are screws allowing you to swap out forks great. If so measure your fork diameter for replacement. And your fork length. Otherwise you'll need a whole new triple tree with disc brake forks, disk, and calipers. I'd also pay attention to your front end ride height. Whether you want to lower or raise your front end via fork length. Your axle runs in lengths and diameter. My old 10" wheel drum forks were 10mm dia. New 12" wheel disc were 12mm dia.
