I did some wiring tonight. I put on all 4 LED turn signal lights, installed a LED turn signal flasher, mine is 3 pin, I had to figure out the wiring. On the scooter, ground is green, on the flasher, ground is red - go figure, usually ground is black and red is positive. Got it done, soldered it up and the turn signals work. The LED turn signal bulbs (cob style) are brighter than the stock bulbs and are 1 watt, the regular bulbs are 10 watts each.
On the Dongfang (Taotao ATM50 clone, uses same body panels and lights), I had no power to the instrument panel light so I spliced into the wire going to the little running light on the front panel and got power to the bub for the speedometer. Now I can put the body back on.
I did some wetsanding tonight, I'll finish the wetsanding tomorrow night.
My rocker arms arrived, so I'll be putting the engine back together - Finally!

I got the wetsanding of the front pieces done and started putting the front end back together.
I also installed the new rocker arms on my 47mm BBK with 47mm head. Tightened it up and put the valve cover, carb and exhaust back on.
I'll start it up tomorrow and adjust the carb. I up-jetted the 20mm carb to a #100 main jet. I still have the #35 pilot jet in it. It was running lean, plug chop was white.

Th front plastics are all back together as well as the wiring is finished and everything works! Even the air horn!
Buttoned the engine up, made sure everything is where it's supposed to be. I'll start it up tomorrow, too late to do that now.
Should be on the road.
Back plastics are next, then done!

I want to get some NGK Iridium spark plugs. What plug number should I get for the 47mm BBK with 47mm head running 93 octane premium?

I installed my new trunk on the Dongfang. Pics of front painted Burgundy instead of bright red including my new mirrors, the GPS holder and the bar that mounts on the mirror that is the size of a handlebar to hold mounts. I have a Go-Pro that I can mount also. Front piece is gloss black instead of black crinkle finish and I cut out the holes to mount my 18 watt LED driving light. Forks painted to match the body GPS holder and the bar from Banggood to hold mounts (it's the same size as a 7/8" handlebar). New trunk that is removable and fits a full face helmet. You can carry the trunk like a suitcase, handy on long scooter rides if you stop at a hotel. The plate that mounts to the luggage rack that the trunk locks onto. You need the key to unlock the trunk from the mounting plate. Been raining so I haven't been able to take it for a test ride. Rear of the body is next. Then detailing, I have some reflective stickers to put on as well as some other stickers. It will be a gold lightning theme.

What plug number should I get for the 47mm BBK with 47mm head running 93 octane premium? the ngk c7hix iradium works great. i still run the cr7hsa or c7hsa but either way if you go iradium or stay standard you can stay in the 7 heat range, no need to change. i change my plug and oil every month so the iradium would be a waste for me. by the way, your scoots coming along nicely

Thanks greggkinney, It's taking longer than I thought it would.
I had a bad eye problem for a few weeks so I didn't get much done during that time. Plus I broke that cylinder stud and had to order a new one, then with the 47mm head it has 64mm valves, the stock head had 69mm valve stems so I had to order new rocker arms.
Setbacks like those can eat a lot of time waiting for parts to arrive in the mail (I'm too cheap to pay for fast shipping).

By the way, not to perpetuate the controversy over the 'P' on an engine code, but my engine is stamped 1P39QMB and had 69mm valves stock. Here is a pic of my 4t variator locking tool installed on the variator. It's handy to loosen & tighten the clutch and variator, but I also use it to keep the motor from turning when I change cylinders, piston, rings and anytime the cam has to be removed. I don't want my engine turning with the cam removed. Just put the cam back in lined up to the holes and everything is still in time. postimg.org/image/uyzzhewvx/

I took the Dongfang out for a shakedown cruise. Put a few miles on it, came home then checked if any oil is leaking. No leaks.
Then I went for a 36 mile cruise and the scoot ran really well. I didn't go for any top end speed as there was a wind, so it wouldn't count. I did cruise at 35 to 38mph (not full throttle) even against the wind and the engine sounded good. A steep hill only slowed me down 2mph but kept 36mph on that hill.
After the cruise I checked for any oil blowing out or leaking - NONE!
I re-did the fuel line using black fuel hose and the screw down type hose clamps. No fuel leaks and the carb stayed full of gas.
So far everything checks out.
I'll try tuning the CVT in the near future, but I want to drive this scooter and start on my Kalibur LS 2t build.

I have a Leo Vince ZX pipe for it. Carb has been ordered.

A little dress up detail for the Dongfang. I cut and then ground the cover over the engine cooling fan. Now you can see my chrome colored plastic 'turbo fan'. it looks black in the picture but the air scoop is chrome plastic.

Indeed a nice find. Be sure to check with a rep to see what bits you may need for the cvt cover before ordering. I ordered the pfs minarelli cover, i still needed the kickstart pin and rear pulley support bearing. fugaziiv ?
