Crap, the hoca has multiple grooves but the id is 2mm too big. I was hoping it would fit but I think it is for gy6. I guess I can sell it a buy something useful. I have a 3 shoe clutch and a 2 shoe clutch. I would assume a 3 shoe is better due to more surface area, any opinions?

I think the 3 shoe would be the better clutch. A while back someone had a link for a adjustable straight groove sliding half td for $20 new. Don't remember where it was but a little searching on here should pop up a link to it

To gain more top speed I am going to have to get my belt to the outside of the front pulley, correct? I have an old vari this is smaller in diameter (stock od) but has extended fingers so the weights can move out farther. The center area looks as if it has been filled down so it can get closer to the fixed part. I also have a vari that is larger in diameter , not sure which one I shoukd go with?

Top speed "gearing" comes from moving the belt as far to the outer edge of the front pulley and inside of the rear pulley. Larger diameter sounds good, but if it can't get near the outside edge it doesn't matter how big it is. Since you have them, I'd just try both. Weights don't have to be dead on, but get them close. Run it up to speed and check your belt travel if the result isn't obvious already. Just keep the OD in mind if you are comparing the marker leftover on a pulley.

I agree with that statement 100%. I am almost done tuning a 96cc Minarelli under an Air50 scoot. Its gotta full Malossi OR kit in it. The torsion springs ID was too small for the Malossi rear pulley causing binding and not letting it open fully so i swapped it out for the only thing i had here to fit good, a stock one from my Cobra (a GY6 four spring fits great too) and it went from using 3/4,s of the pulleys and revving out, or "gearing out" at around 60MPH with 10:1 final drives. I knew this was not right from previous set-ups so i looked into it and found the spring to be the problem. With the spring switched it goes right on past 60 without revving out. In fact, i dont even know the top speed yet as i have not let it get there.
Dont forget, too stiff or strong of torsion spring wont allow the CVT to shift fully into "top gear". It has been suggested to me to tune the CVT with the softest torsion spring you can get away with (without belt slip) for the best performance and top speed out of your set-up. I have to agree!

Uh oh! Mine caught me in the office on eBay two days ago. I had just ordered Bell's book. She asked what I was doing and I told her but she hung around shuffling papers until I shut the computer off.

I should see if I can find a copy of each bell and Jennings books so I have a hard copy also. Something about holding it in your hand that makes it easier Sent from my SPH-L720 using proboards

The 2T and 4T Bell books I have are actually better than the scans I used to have. Well, I never had a pdf of the 4T book, the the 2T is a more updated version with more info. the 4T book is huge, roughly 600 pages full of info.

I am thinking that I will need a longer belt rhan the stock belt I am running. I am going to run a larger vari, wouldn't I need a longer belt?
